The European Commission has announced a £20 million fund for the Atlantic Ocean Observing System(AtlantOS) project which will bring together experts from more than 60 leading research organizations. The objective of this multidisciplinary project is to improve the ocean monitoring system of the Atlantic Ocean as a whole for more accurate weather forecasting, improved safety planning for coastal communities and more cost-effective information delivery system.
