Doesn't it seem to you that too many countries are presently claiming their share of the so called Arctic Pie? Now the EU has added itself to the list

Far as I got it Brussels has a watering mouth for the vast natural reserves of the Arctic and they are now applying vigorous effort to get their share.  This is actually a very challenging position, a bad tasting precedent! They are trying to diminish the importance of some already agreed international treaties and agreements regulating exploration of the region by coastal Arctic states. That's no good imo. If it goes this way Canada may one day declare it claims some mineral resources in central Germany or sort of it.
