If there is no science involved then I don't see what is the point to be there ! For holiday ? leisure ? you are kidding they are releasing massive amount of CO2 just for that when it is the number one problem for ice melting they (we) are walking on the head. The main rational thought is that Russia push to be present on the spot and then claim more thoroughly that it is there territory, they certainly are in conflict with Norway (I am not following what is going on at the Arctic council http://www.arctic-council.org/index.php/en/)
