Climate Engineering With Computer Solutions.
« on: June 28, 2016, 04:08:45 PM »
I keep hearing from climate scientists we should not geo-engineer the climate due to unintended consequences or it is not nice to fool with mother nature. Computers have come a long way computation wise these days. Computers can tell us these days what the climate is going to do years into the future. For instance they can tell what Co2 levels are going to be well into the future and how much warming this will create. Conversely, if we were to stop burning fossil fuels and stop producing Co2 they can tell us what the climate is going to do in the future also... No matter what we do to stop burning fossil fuels we are in effect still geo-engineering the climate due to the fact the climate will still change due to the change we made. There is a cause and effect to climate no matter what we do to it.

With a computer you can set up engineering parameters so that if the computer recognizes that a engineering parameter has been exceeded it can then tell you what to do to correct the situation.. Sort of like an alarm point with Min. and Max. values to tell us to stay within certain parameters or like cruise control on your car... In a commercial power plant these days everything is in automatic and run by computers... In the old days everything was run manually and not in automatic.. An example of the complexity of power generation run by computers is here.. For instance if division load control wanted another megawatt produced on your generator a sequence of events happen which is all controlled by computer. They would send a signal to the exciter to increase dc voltage on it. Since the two pole generator is locked to the grid at 3600 rpm and 60 cycles for a fossil fuel steam plant this would increase A/C power on the stator. Direct current in alternating current out.. Usually 20kv for generator primary voltage then out to the step up transformer where it can be transformed or stepped up to 500kv and sent on down the transmission lines. But that is not all that happens.

Back in the plant much more happens and is also controlled by computer. So when the generator gets a little more load on it it wants to slow down a bit but there is a flyball governor on the steam turbine which senses the slow down from 3600rpm to 3599rpm and it sends a signal to the steam control valve to open more to get it back to 3600 rpm in order to stay at 3600rpm and 60 cycles. In the boiler the pressure is set at 2500 psi and 1000 degrees F for the super heater outlet and when the control valve opens sending more steam to the turbine the pressure drops a few pounds. When that happens more air and fuel is added to the boiler to build the pressure back to 2500psi. When that happens the drum level in the boiler initially rises a little bit but then starts to lower again because it has to make more steam which means you have to make up more water to the boiler drum. Feed water flow to the boiler drum must equal steam flow to the turbine or the drum level will drop out... Also,as steam flow increases the super heated steam temperature increases due to the extra fuel and air being consumed in the boiler so a super heated steam spray header sprays boiler feed water into it to cool it back to down to 1000 degrees F.. If any Min. or Max. engineered parameters are exceeded an automatic shutdown is initiated by the computer. So it should be possible to geo-engineer our climate and have computers control it since this technology already exists... All we have to do is figure out the correct parameters for our climate system and let computers control them.

Therein lies a tale.

Well we have a start already since we know fossil fuels have them all out of whack...
