Trump's financial situation leaves him wide open to numerous potential conflicts of interest.

What this thread (and Russiagate) seem to do is concentrate on the Trump and not on the consequences of having a dysfunctional or non-functioning Presidency and an ineffective Congress. If it was the Russkies what did it (and Trump's cavalier attitude to conducting business) their success is continuing and probably greater than expected. The President, Congress, the media and the public (as evidenced by these these threads) are trapped in the continuing stream of who did what and when while Government is not governing.

Meanwhile:-
- The Government of California has made an agreement directly with the Government of Germany (on climate stuff), sidelining the Federal Government,
- How many states, cities, (and even individuals such as Michael Bloomberg) are making legal agreements with the UN ?
- Angela Merkel went to Argentina to sew up the EU Trade Agreement with Mercosur last week (will be signed by the end of the year),
- China has made an agreement to work with the EU to out-perform the Paris Accord targets. (We are talking gigawatts and gigabucks of deals coming down the road),
- The USA has no clear idea on what to do about North Korea..... the list is endless.

Belguim was without a Government for over a year not so long ago. No-one noticed. The world will notice if those in the USA who need to get a grip on governing do not.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the GOP is more than willing to take the world the into chaos & that unless the US youth vote stands-up (as it recently sent a message to Theresa May) in 2018 then the US will sink into chaos with the rest of the world.

It’s becoming more and more clear that the crazed tone of Trump’s presidency is, as they say, a feature and not a bug of modern-day Republicanism. Conservative has become just another word for nothing left to lose. They have become the All-or-Nothing Party. They are showing every sign of being willing to go over the falls with Trump. With speculation rising about whether or not Trump will go all Saturday Night Massacre, fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and transform us overnight from a democracy into a totalitarian backwater, I guess we shall see. But whatever Trump decides to do in the coming weeks, the way the Republican Party is handling itself is going to stick to them for a long time. It’s going to be very, very hard to forget the image of a racist like Jefferson Beauregard Sessions laughing in the face of an African-American Senator like Kamala Harris as she’s being told to shut up and sit down. Robert Mercer backed Team Trump in the 2016 election and now he is close to calling a Constitutional Convention to enact such alt-right goals as voter suppression (via national voter IDs) and changes in education that would promote the alt-right agenda:

A Constitutional Convention would be a nightmare, as there are few rules specified in the existing Constitution.  However, we might not be so close to such disaster:

Things to watch this week:

1. Donnie is supposed to say whether or not he is taping people in the White House or not.  If he is...he is to turn over tapes by this Friday.  If not....then why did he lie about?  Habit?

2.  Dems growing tired of secret health bill....likely to slow up various processes if Republicans continue to keep thing secretive.

3.  Georgia 6th district election is Tuesday.  Can Dems REALLY capture a seat that has been Republican for over 40 years? We'll see....

4.  Syria is ratcheted up a notch... hope it doesn't interfere with Donnie's golf game.

Donnie's administration is continuing to unwind....and still having significant issues finding qualified people to fill out his administration.  Do you blame them?  Would YOU sign on to work on the USS Titanic?

Why do you think KellyAnne's husband turned down a legal position in the Trump administration.  Having one family member go down with the ship is bad enough.

Rumors have it that Trump is looking for someone to take Spicey's position.  Laura Ingram is one of the people being considered.....as Jeanine Pirro already turned down Donnie's offer.  I think Laura would be perfect.  A fake Christian with a lot of hate built up in her.....would be perfect for the job.

I see that Donnie has his ethical giant's out on the campaign stumping (lying) for him.  Who better than Newt Gingrich and Rick Scott?  Newt Gingrich who cheated on his first two wives....and delivered divorce papers to one of them while she was in the hospital for cancer.  Nice touch Newt.  And Rick Scott....... the CEO of Columbia Healthcare during the largest Medicare fraud in US history.

When you are a thoroughly rotten person like Donnie......those are the types of people who you pal around with.

The simple truth of the matter is that core Trump supporters are so tribal that they will not admit buyer's remorse.  Thus, either the GOP (both party & congressional leadership) needs to trout-out a more moderate platform that will give these hard core supporter enough political cover to behave rationally; or the Trump resistance movement needs to be a fight to the death (because Trump is telling the world to: "Drop Dead").

"No regrets for Trump voters: The media needs to stop looking for buyer’s remorse"

http://www.salon.com/2017/06/21/no-regrets-for-trump-voters-the-media-needs-to-stop-looking-for-buyers-remorse/

Extract: "Psychological research shows people are too tribal and afraid to admit they were wrong to regret their votes

What’s it going to take to get Donald Trump’s supporters to see the light? It’s a question on the minds of not only liberals but also anyone who still cherishes our democracy, and it grows more intense as evidence piles up of corruption and even suspicions of criminal activity by members of the Trump administration. Indeed, waiting and watching for signs of buyer’s remorse among Trump supporters has become a minor cottage industry within the mainstream media, with reporters and TV anchors displaying an almost pornographic interest in watching the mental hoops that Trump voters will go through so as to stand by their man."

Reminds me of one of my older brothers and his wife. His wife, my sister in law is a bit "out there" so it's understandable if she stays with Trump. My brother who ordinarily is quite rational is also drinking the Trump Kool-Aid and I have a hard time understanding why. I think it has to do with the condo development they are living in, which makes for a great "echo chamber". It seems the overwhelming majority of their neighbors watch FOX News and share the same general point of view. It's a very good example of a "tribe" mentality.

And to which tribe do we belong? In what way does that make us blind to things?

While this thread does not have a particularly philosophical bent, nevertheless, I provide the first linked Alternet article entitled: "The Deep Roots of Left vs. Right", to point out that the best way to improve our current politically polarized situation is to progressively move back towards a point of yin-yang balance of the constraints of freedom vs security:

http://www.alternet.org/culture/deep-roots-left-vs-right

Extract: "“I’m left wing,” or “I’m right wing,” morphs too, reflecting changing coalitions and interests. Today, left and right have come to mean factions that would like the other faction out of the way. They’re not a yin and yang that need each other. They’re warring kingdoms competing for exclusive dominion over the same space, and then competing over which kingdom is to blame for starting the warring.

Remembering that what we’re all really negotiating—the right balance of constraint and freedom, security and liberty—may make us more receptive to negotiation, and smarter negotiators too, not taken in by hyperbolic half-truths about the one true way."

Also, the linked article indicates that the 4th Industrial Revolution will open new doors for young people to establish new norms of human interaction.

"Riding the Next Wave of Human Evolution"

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/conversational-intelligence/201706/riding-the-next-wave-human-evolution

Extract: "With their deep comfort with uncertainty and technology, coupled with their hardwired sense of inclusion, Millennials are blazing the trail by transforming workplaces. When used well, technological connections facilitate extended conversations and build trusting relationships transcending time and space, with all the potential this unleashes. The future leaders of this relationship network, where the world is connected in ways that shift our minds and brains, are the Millennials. Consider this: How might the Millennial generation be riding the next wave of human evolution?"

I am not trying to present Pollyannaish visions of guaranteed utopia; only a path forward that may result in a softer socio-economic collapse circa 2050-2060; & in my opinion that middle path includes putting up resistance to Trump's (& Putin's) alt-right extremism, for the good of sustainability.

As a follow-on to my last post, I support Naomi Oreskes' assessment that the only ways to fix climate change denial in the USA is to either change the GOP, "... or to vote Republicans out of office":

"The Republican party – not Trump – is the biggest obstacle to climate action" by Naomi Oreskes

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun/05/republican-party-climate-change-policies-donald-trump

Extract: "There’s a saying in business: fix the problem, not the blame. It’s a nice concept, but you can’t fix a problem if you don’t know its cause. And just as the scientific evidence of anthropogenic climate change is clear, the historical evidence of opposition to action is also clear: the greatest obstacle to American action on climate change for the past 20 years has been the Republican party, and this opposition has proven itself to be impervious to argument, even from what one might think would be trusted sources.

American business and religious leaders, distinguished senior Republicans who served in the Nixon and first Bush administrations, and even the Pentagon have called for action on climate change. But it has had no impact on Republican policies.

This conclusion is hard for some to accept, particularly for scientists, as it seems overtly partisan. (And it may seem unfair to the few, courageous Republicans who have spoken out on the issue.) But as scientists have called upon us to accept the reality of climate change, we must accept the reality that American climate change denial is not bipartisan. It is Republican. And the only way to fix it is to change the Republican party, or to vote Republicans out of office."

I expect Donnie's poll numbers to continue their decline.  Right now...numbers are 37/58.  His record low numbers back in March were 35/59.  Donnie will set new lows within a week or two.  The Senate healthcare bill will likely do the trick over the next week.

The tribe which does not demand a sacrificium intellectus.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacrifice_of_the_intellect
It blinds us to the fact that the other side does not interact with rational arguments.

Trump voters, climate deniers, etc. have sacrificed their brains to prove loyalty to their tribe (the reality-challenged Late Homo S Sapiens). There is not much talking them out of this. Laugh them out, leave them behind and move on.

"Trump Sued For Allegedly Violating Presidential Records Act"

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/06/22/533977417/trump-sued-for-allegedly-violating-presidential-records-act

The complaint alleges that White House staffers' widely reported use of encrypted messaging apps, such as Signal and Confide, for internal communication violates the Presidential Records Act.

In the lawsuit, the groups claim the Trump administration has "failed to adopt adequate policies and guidelines to maintain and preserve presidential records."

Let me see. He sells policy making to foreign countries. He does not follow ethics laws.  He is actively attacking the usual scapegoats. He has a rabid fan base. He doesn't keep official records.

Sigh. This is like climate change. It is so bad, it is literally unbelievable.

I believe that he knows most people won't believe how bad this can get and he is taking full advantage of it. He knows that because he is a media man.

However, he doesn't understand climate change or science for that matter. That will be his downfall, but probably not before he can do a lot of harm to most people and make very rich a few.

Keep in mind that while Kentucky has been losing coal jobs for decades..instead of moving Kentucky into renewable energy....they have been trying to hang on to coal.  That is like trying to save black and white tv's.  Instead of moving Kentucky into the job creating sector of renewable energy...both Rand Paul and Mitch McConell are trying to save a dying industry.

And now....as coal jobs continue to be shed....Mitch and Rand are taking away their healthcare. They both should be booted out of office.

For some reason coal mines seem never to have cared much for their employees. All I can recall is horror stories whether in the US, Canada or Britain.

Trump has been building negatives since the election. I don't think even if he was successful he'd have gained many votes by bringing back coal jobs, it's too dirty & everyone not invested in it is aware of that. As it is it will be seen as one more failure to deliver on his campaign promises.

Republicans by and large take a perverse pleasure in fighting against climate change legislation, but many rural areas are getting excited about wind and solar. He loses votes there no matter what he does. If he sees the light he loses the Neanderthal Republican vote, and if he doesn't, the Realistic Republican's will shy away.

Russia is a huge problem. He ran on normalizing relations, but that now is seen as far too toxic a stand to take. If he does smooth things over the uproar will be deafening, if he doesn't he loses those who saw him as the peace candidate. He may be unable to halt the latest round of sanctions which could draw counter sanctions from Germany and the EU. Nobody outside Ukraine will be happy about that, but a Trump veto at this point might be suicidal.

If the domestic employment situation does not spike up going into the 2018 elections, everyone in either party will be running away from Trump, it probably won't help the Republicans and spells disaster for his 2020 campaign.

Healthcare is not going to be resolved to anyone's liking in the next two years. The rest of the developed world recognizes that healthcare is one of government's responsibilities. Eventually the US will develop a sensible single payer scheme, but it won't happen under this president, and any other method of payment is simply too expensive and therefor becomes unpopular in a short time. If the Democrats ran on this issue alone I think they'd sweep the elections, but the insurance, healthcare, and pharma pockets are too deep to allow this to happen without a civil war within the Democratic party.

Pelosi is telling her followers to stand down on Russiagate, but the Media Oligarchs aren't following their orders. Bezos in particular seems to be beating his drum ever louder. Remembering the Maine might be good advise this time around. When was the last time that the US got into a war that in retrospect seemed the right thing to do?

Droughts, floods, rising sea levels, CO2, CH4, we've serious work to do on many fronts. All of these require global cooperation. Perhaps these distractions are meant to keep the populace chanting USA, USA, but at some time we have to pull our collective heads out of the sand, look at where we are, and chant, It's The Climate Stupid.

Because oil.

Ignoring Western governors, Interior Department looks to undo local conservation plans
Quote
Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke signed a secretarial order on Thursday launching a review of dozens of Western state conservation plans. The plans played a critical role in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s determination that the now iconic greater sage grouse did not need the protection of the Endangered Species Act and instead included local coalitions in the creation of tailored conservation plans.

The secretarial order directs an interagency team to review the 98 existing land-use management plans created to preserve critical sage grouse habitat, with the intent of determining whether they should be altered or rolled back. The sage grouse is a native Western bird known for its elaborate mating ritual and, more recently, its threatened status: sage grouse population has fallen by at least 97 percent over the last several years.

Zinke said the review will be guided by Trump’s “energy independence” executive order issued in March, aimed at removing environmental regulations governing the oil and gas industry. The agency’s review of sage grouse plans will include determining if the plans place a “burden” on energy development, even though the plans already make over 80 percent of areas with high or medium oil potential available for development.
...
“Secretary Zinke should be careful not to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory when it comes to sage grouse conservation,” said Brian Rutledge, the Audubon Society’s conservation policy adviser. “The existing conservation plans were designed with both flexibility and scientific rigor, guaranteeing maximum buy-in from Western communities and the best chance of success for the sage-grouse and more than 350 other species that depend on this landscape.”

Though Zinke said the current plans are “destroying local communities,” protecting the sage grouse habitat is not the economic threat that Zinke makes it out to be. Western economies rely on the roughly $1 billion a year in outdoor recreation spending fueled by protecting sage grouse habitat, and Western communities rely on the plans to ensure working landscapes are healthy for ranchers, sportsmen, and the 350 other species dependent on the sage grouse’s habitat.

Extract: “Trump, she suggests in her new book, No Is Not Enough, exploited that phenomenon to become the first incarnation of president as a brand, doing to the US nation and to the planet what he had first practised on his big gold towers: plastering his name and everything it stands for all over them.

Klein has also charted the other force at work behind the victory of the 45th president. Her 2007 book, The Shock Doctrine, argued that neoliberal capitalism, the ideological love affair with free markets espoused by disciples of the late economist Milton Friedman, was so destructive of social bonds, and so beneficial to the 1% at the expense of the 99%, that a population would only countenance it when in a state of shock, following a crisis – a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, a war.
...
Speaking at her home in Toronto last week, Klein suggested to me that Trump’s novelty was to take the shock doctrine and make it a personal superpower. “He keeps everyone all the time in a reactive state,” she said. “It is not like he is taking advantage of an external shock, he is the shock. And every 10 minutes he creates a new one. “

The linked October 8, 2016 article discusses how Obama directly accused Putin of meddling in the 2016 election; which Trump disputed until last week (& now Trump accuses Obama of not doing anything).  It is the people who ignored Obama's warning and voted for Trump who should be held accountable for their greed and arrogance:

Title: "Obama administration accuses Russian government of election-year hacking"

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/obama-administration-accuses-russian-government-of-election-year-hacking-229296

Extract: "Signaling a low-point in Washington-Moscow relations perhaps not seen since the Cold War, the Obama administration on Friday ended months of speculation and blamed Russia for deploying its hackers to meddle with the U.S. election.

The accusation came at the end of a week that saw the United States halt negotiations with Russia over joint operations in Syria targeting extremist groups."

In an article published today in Die Welt, Seymour Hersh analyzes the alleged attack with chemical gas (sarin) by the Syrian army on April 4 this year. After seeing TV pictures of alleged gas attack victims on TV news, Trump got upset by Assad and promptly fired some 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles on a Syran airbase. MSM span the story about a chemical gas attack wildly, but there were doubts about the authenticity of evidence provided by jihadists in Syria, and a lot of confusing and conflicting evidence. Still, the incident made for a policy change on T-admin's policy in Syria, and the US is now more actively taking part in the fighting not only against ISIS, but also against the Assad regime.

Hersh finds that there was no gas attack after all, and it wasn't sarin either. He quotes sources within US intelligence, foremost “a senior adviser to the American intelligence community, who has served in senior positions in the Defense Department and Central Intelligence Agency”.
It seems that the analysis made by the Russians right after the bombing was correct after all: there were secondary explosions after the delivery of a large, guided bomb by a Syrian fighter jet, that blew up a large building where some top jihadists had a meeting going on. However, on the ground floor there was a storage with chemicals that was blown up together with the building, and those chemicals caused poisioning of locals.

Die Welt is one of the most well renowned German newspapers, and Hersh is a Pulitzer prize winning journalist. Also, Die Welt has gotten full disclosure of Hersh's sources, and checked the story with the central source in the US.

Meanwhile according to Der Spiegel, another German publication of note, the White House, as well as other official and business targets had been spied upon since at least 1998 - by Germany. This revelation, as well as the earlier revelation that the BND was colluding with the NSA to spy on other EU governments.
Apparently hacking between governments is even more widespread than we had previously been aware of.

On another front, the CIA coup in Iran, long reported as a conspiracy theory, has finally been admitted to by the US. Back in 1953 the CIA ran a coup against the democratically elected leader on Iran, 64 years later the crime has been admitted to. Conspiracy theory becomes a conspiracy fact, who would have believed that the US would admit to a coup so soon after their Ukrainian misadventure?

Donnie continues to slip in the polls.  Now at 36% approval and 58% disapproval.  He'll be down into the low 30's  before he gets a bounce of some kind.  This is kind of like watching grass grow...or paint dry.  You don't know exactly how long it will take...but you KNOW it is happening.

If you folks didn't catch the "60 Minutes" program on "Artificial Intelligence"....I would encourage you to watch it.  Fascinating.....and AI is progressing so quickly.

When I was watching.....two things kept popping into my mind:

1).  Some day AI will be used in Congress...to help separate fact from fiction on various policy matters.

2).  They need to be applying it to global warming....in the same way they are using it for cancer right now.

Remember....truth never goes away, it just waits to be discovered.

But what if you have a source that is unimpeachable regarding its integrity?  I don't think that people like Donnie and Teddy (Cruz) are going to like AI very much.  Policy based on facts, science, math and truth?  That takes away all their lies. And then you have a world more to the liking of scientists like Neil de Grasse Tyson.  Same goes for economic policies, tax policies and most other policies.

Speaking of policy based on facts, science, and truth......I wonder why FOX isn't covering healthcare right now?  They could be talking about the following things under the proposed senate bill:

1.   Premiums are going to go up
2.   Deductibles are going to go up
3.   Death rates are going to go up
4.   People uninsured is going to skyrocket
5.   And Donnie will still be playing more golf than any president ever.

Why is it that Sean isn't covering that?  Brit? Martha?  Stuart?  Bret?  Eric?  You guys are sooooo quiet on healthcare right now.  🙄

I love the press briefing today.  Sara Huckabee is fun to watch.  Whenever I get the chance to break away from work in the afternoon.....she is a breath of.....what is she a breath of......certainly not fresh air.

She called on Breitbart News.....Steve Bannon's old company that is heading into bankruptcy because everyone knows they are fake news.  The question was likely emailed into Sara before the briefing, so Sara could come up with a good line about "fake news."  By the way....looks like Sara must have invested in an eye liner company recently.  Otherwise why would she wear 5 lbs of eye liner on each eyelash?  Yikkeessss.....

I have a funny feeling we're going to see a lot more of Sara in coming months.  Does anyone of any ability REALLY want Spicey's job?  I don't think so either....😝

The "scrum" between the member of the White House press corps and Sara Huckabee today....is not the end of things.  I expect to see some members of the press corps to be more prepared to call out Donnie's lies in the future.

So this thing with Donnie's attack of the press.....and Donnie's continued lies.....is going to escalate further.

With the usual drama created by Trump's latest sexist tweets, and the rightful focus on the healthcare debate, this potentially important development may fly under the radar.  The open ended military use of force authorization passed in 2001 is being forced to debate.  This is a welcome development, given the presence of a war mongering and unstable entity in the White House.  Trump and his team are threatening various countries with military action, and by sheer incompetence could cause conflicts to erupt anywhere.  The American voters missed the chance to ensure peace in our time by electing Hillary Clinton, so this debate on constraining the dangerous Trump is only a positive.

The Latest:  Panel Agrees to Cut Off War Authorization

https://www.apnews.com/a72ab329212548d780777ac5eae1e2c5?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=AP_Politics

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on defense spending bills in Congress (all times local):

12:15 p.m.

A House panel has unexpectedly agreed to a proposal by a strongly anti-war Democrat to force a debate on a new war authorization.

The proposal would cut off the sweeping 2001 authorization to use military force against terrorism. The move by California Democrat Barbara Lee unexpectedly won voice vote approval by the House Appropriations Committee as it debated a Pentagon funding bill.

Lee wants to force a debate on a new war authorization, and some Republicans agree that debate is a good idea.

Lee’s amendment would repeal the 2001 law — which has been broadly interpreted to permit military operations beyond those contemplated at the time — 240 days after the bill is enacted.

Lee took to Twitter to claim victory, saying, “GOP & Dems agree: a floor debate & vote on endless war is long overdue.”

One of the "less reported" items these days......is the continued decline of religion in the US.  More and more people are seeing what "fake Christians" like Sara Huckabee and others are saying......and they are dumping religion year after year.

I happen to think that is a GOOD THING.  If I were a Christian.....I would be embarrassed by the amount of lying she does.  I pity her children.  I'm not an atheist....but the few atheists I know are each 10 times the person that either Donald Trump or Sara Huckabee are.

We are getting closer to the day when there will be some defections from the White House.  Mattis and Tillerson are likely at the top of that list.  Unfortunately.....Donnie's Cabinet is chock full of fake Christians like Pence and Devoss.

Every day seems to bring new lows to the behavior of SCROTUS.  I am sure he can and will go much lower in the months ahead as the financial house of cards known as Trump Inc. continue to slowly close in.

Donnie is one sick dude......👩🏼‍⚕️

If the GOP Congress can manage to limit Trump's war making powers, I will give them an at-a-boy :D

http://www.palmerreport.com/news/republican-controlled-house-committee-donald-trump-war-powers/3664/

Extract: "The House Appropriations Committee has voted in bipartisan fashion to revoke the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF) statute, which went into effect on September 14th of 2001. The move is clearly aimed at preventing Donald Trump from being able to arbitrarily wage war as he sees fit. This comes after his failed military action in Yemen, his nonsensical bombing in Syria, his pointless “mother of all bombs” incident, and other actions which suggest he’s not capable of making rational decisions with regard to the use of military force."

Critics say the commission is a pretext to justify Trump’s claims and will lay the groundwork for additional repressive voting laws. Trump on Thursday appointed Hans von Spakovsky, another prominent voice stoking fears of voter fraud, to the commission."

The linked Alternet article presents an alternate interpretation of Trump's Tomahawk missile strike on Syria:

“After Sy Hersh's Bombshell Investigation, Why Won't Media Tell the Real Story of Trump's Military Strike in Syria?”

http://www.alternet.org/media/sy-hershs-bombshell-investigation-why-wont-media-tell-real-story-trumps-military-strike-syria

Extract: “So what did Hersh’s investigation reveal? His sources in the U.S. intelligence establishment told him the official narrative that Syria’s Bashar Assad had dropped deadly sarin gas on the town of Khan Sheikhoun on April 4 was incorrect. Instead, they said, a Syrian plane dropped a bomb on a meeting of jihadi fighters that triggered secondary explosions in a storage depot, releasing a toxic cloud of chemicals that killed civilians nearby.

One might assume that an alternative narrative of the events would be of great interest to the media, given that Donald Trump approved a military strike on Syria based on the official narrative. Hersh’s version suggests that Trump acted against the intelligence advice he received from his own officials, in a highly dangerous move that not only grossly violated international law but might have dragged Assad’s main ally, Russia, into the fray. The Syrian arena has the potential to trigger a serious confrontation between the world’s two major nuclear powers.”

Is fracking the only thing that will thwart Trump's bid to renew offshore oil/gas drilling in the US Arctic?

"Trump says the Atlantic, Arctic could soon be open to oil drilling"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/06/29/trump-says-the-atlantic-arctic-could-soon-be-open-to-oil-drilling/?utm_term=.df6f766ca2ae

Extract: "The White House is making a bid to overturn the Obama administration’s five-year plan forbidding oil and gas exploration in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans and will examine opportunities to drill almost anywhere off the U.S. coast.

Interior Department officials said Thursday that opening most of the outer continental shelf to leasing is part of President Trump’s strategy to make the United States a global leader in energy production, stimulate coastal activity and create thousands of jobs. But as onshore oil and natural gas production has surged from horizontal drilling, helping to lower the price of petroleum, interest in offshore drilling has fallen."

How about between Assange and Comey?

One has never before been accused of lying, the other has never before been accused of telling the truth.
One relies on his reputation for delivering the truth, the other relies on his training as a lawyer.
One says the Russians were not involved, the other says the Russians may have been involved.
One of them published DNC emails, the other investigated a candidate, then told the world he wouldn't prosecute, then 11 days before the election decided to reopen his investigation.

Who cost Hillary the election. Who lied about the source of the leaks.
Should we go to the videos?
