Is the an "ignore poster" capability on this forum, which enables one to eliminate posts by one or more posters being displayed ? Sorta like the Usenet killfile idea.

No, sorry ! Not as a regular option anyway. If you can find an additional module, please pm me so I can discuss it with Neven
This forum helps me to feel less uncomfortable about "doing something" about the melting Arctic and the warming world.

I think the feature may be built into this SMF platform, possibly you just turn it on as an administrator:

Folks, my 2 cents:
The whole Forum is - in a way - about possibility of killing too much of everything important to us (as the specie).
Overall problem is too complex, Killfile do not helps here, we should work on our communication skills and on our way to deal with annoying stuff and try not to exclude anyone.
Killfiling do not removes the problem.

Hey, i thought killfiles would block posts matching rules from appearing in my browser in the discussion forum, not just in personal messages matching the rule to be blocked ?

i added a rule in the settings under  "my messages" but it doesn't seem to work in the forum threads.

i am probly doing sumpn wrong ? guidance requested

It's buried in an odd spot, but OSweetMrMath was able to help me find it:

If you view your Profile, there's an option for "Buddies/Ignore List" under Modify Profile. Not the most obvious place, true.

I lurked without registering for years.  It really improves the s/n for me.  And the occasional quote from a person ignored confirms that I am not missing anything of significance.   Peace out.

Is it possible for the killfile button to appear on every post ?

i. e. could one ignore every post by somebody by clicking a button on any of his/her posts ?

I suspect, from what i have seen of the code, the answer is no, not without more horrible php hackery

But i also see that many posters are moved to great anger, and might benefit from easily ignoring those who arouse them so.

Apparently people are having trouble with setting up a killfile

1)click on Profile
2)click on "Modify Profile"
3)Choose the  "Buddies/Ignore list ..."
4)click on "Edit Ignore List"
5)add whoever you wish ...

"Modify Profile" is not clickable on my thing. "Buddies/Ignore list ..." is already there and clickable.

Not f-ing working! Comments of the ignored are still visible.
(Not just in quotes from the not ignored - which is entirely consistent and OK with me.)
Maybe I need a higher Forum member status????

It might block PMs. Maybe that's what you all are talking about ????

Here's a screen shot:

That's weird. My displays and menus are different from yours. Is it something to do with themes ...?

Yeah, those "themes" are also my hunch - plus a "bugfeature" (i.e. faulty design - clueless programmerz everywhere). I have not changed the theme ever since I joined January 2014.

Might be an outdated and now defunct default theme. (P.S.: Hmmm, nope, see 2013 stuff above)
