Trip to Jakobshavn Isbræ?

I wonder if there is an interest in the Arctic Sea Ice Forum community to arrange a trekking trip along the southern shore of the Icefjord to the calvingfront , the plan is to camp there for a few days, and do some studies?

I suspect 2015 could be one of the last seasons the calving front can be watched from solid ground (rocks) in a relatively short distance.

I believe the trekking distance will be max. 2 x 42 km and could be less?

Let me hear your interest in such a project?

I'd really, *really* love to, but quite impossible in my life this year, Espen. I think it's a great initiative and hope people will join in. (My long time plan or daydream is to move to the Nares.)

It's a dream. I've already convinced my brother (who travels the world anyway) to take such a trip with me. However my precarious financial situation currently prevents it. Maybe in a couple of years.

Wow! That's an incredibly enticing suggestion, and would doubtlessly be the adventure of a lifetime for nature, snow, and ice (and science) lovers like myself (& I'm sure so many others here).  If JI's calving front can hang-in there another couple of years, who knows? 

You're idea certainly got me thinking . . . How can a software/systems/IT professional on the cutting-edge of real-time/big data processing contribute to such a venture?

I am pretty sure for whatever reason one goes there, it will be a lifetime experience, I will try to come up with a budget in a week or so (hopefully)

Awesome - PM me if I seem to not follow the thread. I lurk because I'm absolutely fascinated by this forum. I have some skills but not enough to be dependable on the scientific front. I see myself as a support or leader role as I've done those roles in my professional life. Along with IT - basic software and hardware skills in there. Scientific mission or not I'm very interested in the idea- just need a solid "plan" lol.
