Well, there is hope for the 5 July-August and the 5 after August voters!  Somebody will have guessed right.  GIF of the crack area:  June 16, 2020 and July 27, 2020.  One image was shifted to remove most ice tongue movement.  The cracks on the left and right have all widened during this 41 day period.  There is a hint of extension, too.  (But I "see" things that might not be there!)  Images from Sentinelhub Playground - dates are in upper left corner.  [needs a click to run]

The lateral rifts are extending/widening, but no cross-tongue connection is apparent, yet.  Some of the apparent extensions are hinted at in the June image (image adjusted to remove glacier movement) that are quite apparent in August.  Some of what I think are rifts may be valleys ( :-[), but I tried not to get carried away with 'seeing things'.  [Did you see the UFO last night??  :o] Tongue-end image for reference, and June & August GIF.  (click to run GIF)

We have no new ice island but we do have 5 winners (well, they will be winners, someday).  You may collect your prizes, lumps of Petermann Glacier ice suitable for cooling ice tea, up north.  (Just make you way onto Petermann Glacier at your own expense and risk.)  A substitute prize may be obtained from the freezer section of your refrigerator.  A screen print of the poll with "after August 2020" highlighted may impress your friends.

As of September 2, Sentinel Playground-hub image shows: no apparent change from 10 days ago. (click to enlarge)

I really tried, but my imagination went only as far as August 2020.

Well.  Do you see what I see? It looks almost like a complete crack, but not quite.  Worth keeping an eye on, for sure...

I'd call that "almost".  ;D

Some day's Polar View image look 'better' than others.  Probably still wishful thinking on my part.

You just need to sing the right note loud enough.  ;)

Did any of the "Winning Five" think it would not break by now?

I picked the last three bins but I wasn't at all close to being sure that I would be right, let alone thinking it would last a year longer than the April- June 2020 choice.

I figured out what is preventing this major calving event to happen:   Yesterday's PolarView image shows August Heinrich Petermann's happy face where the last 300 meter of intact ice is.
:)

Or maybe it's a polar bear (2nd GIF)

More seriously, this is the best view of the area in a while:  PolarView from September 28
