Trump backs down, little bit on declassification:

"the Inspector General [Horowitz]... has been asked to review these documents on an expedited basis"

" In the end I can always declassify if it proves necessary. Speed is very important to me "

While he is in office Trump may have more to fear from Cohen's cooperation with the NY Attorney General than he has to fear from Cohen's cooperation with the Mueller's investigation:

Title: "RED ALERT: Cohen Cooperation with NY Attorney General is Most Dangerous News Yet For Trump Team"

https://lawandcrime.com/opinion/red-alert-cohen-cooperation-with-ny-attorney-general-is-most-dangerous-news-yet-for-trump-team/

Extract: "As dramatic as it was when Michael Cohen pleaded guilty and pointed the finger at Donald Trump for directing him to commit federal crimes, talk of Cohen’s involvement with New York prosecutors has potential to be way worse for the first family. On Thursday, ABC News reported that Cohen is cooperating with New York State authorities to investigate the inner workings of the Trump family charity and the Trump Organization, where Cohen served as an executive vice president and special counsel for a decade.

Why is this so dangerous for the Trumps? Two words: dual sovereignty. In our unique federal system, the states have their own independent authority that is, in many respects, unfettered by federal power.  Donald Trump has no authority whatsoever to pardon anyone for a state-level crime. If New York State were to indict Trump or one of his children for violation of the New York Penal Code, the president would be utterly powerless.  Anyone who disagrees should take it up with Alexander Hamilton."

Looks like Mueller's old boss Rob Rosenstein is about to be replaced.

Is it time to open the betting pool to see if/when Trump decides to classify the Mueller report as 'Top Secret' - not to be opened for 50 years like the FBI files on JFK, MLK and the secret Ronald Reagan Alzheimer medical files?

I'll bet 5 Quatloo* he redacts all the incriminating bits leaving the parts that paint his accusers as part of a criminal conspiracy to commit treason against the Office of the President.

*Ooops, it turns out a Quatloo is actually a 'thing' now since some crazy bitcoin guys have invented a crypto coin called a "Quatloo Coin".  ::)

I think that it is time for Mueller to indict Trump, and fight all the way to the Supreme Court.

Title: "Exclusive: Rod Rosenstein is resigning"

https://www.axios.com/rod-rosenstein-resign-justice-department-trump-cf761f4c-fca3-4794-92d4-a56c9e32ff43.html

Extract: "Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge. Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so he plans to step down.
Background: Rosenstein talked last year about invoking the 25th Amendment and wearing a wire during Trump meetings, the N.Y. Times' Adam Goldman and Michael S. Schmidt reported last week. He denied both allegations."

I think that it is time for Mueller to indict Stone:

Title: "Roger Stone sought contact with WikiLeaks' Julian Assange, email suggests"

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/roger-stone-sought-contact-wikileaks-julian-assange-email/story?id=58032438

Looks like Mueller's old boss Rob Rosenstein is about to be replaced.

If so, hopefully Rosenstein will refuse to resign and will wait for Trump to fire him as I believe that this would put into question Trump's authority to appoint Rosenstein's replacement.

It looks like Trump's administration is likely not legitimate:

Hopefully, Rosenstein will stand-up to Trump on Thursday, and refuse to resign:

Title: "Trump, Rosenstein to meet Thursday"

https://www.axios.com/trump-rosenstein-meet-thursday-resignation-69d7f1a1-eb33-4d81-a6a9-cea860f3df9f.html

Extract: "President Trump will meet with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein at the White House on Thursday, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a Monday statement.

Driving the news: Axios reported Monday morning that Rosenstein verbally offered to resign to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

“At the request of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, he and President Trump had an extended conversation to discuss the recent news stories. Because the President is at the United Nations General Assembly and has a full schedule with leaders from around the world, they will meet on Thursday when the President returns to Washington, D.C.”"

Edit: It seem suspicious that Trump scheduled his meeting with Rosenstein for the same time as the Kavanaugh hearing.

You bring up a damn good point, and one that is ignored by both sides.

If a crook is brought down when someone discovers and releases his orders to his minions it's the crook that is punished, not the ones who released the data.

When a fire breathing preacher's notes about seducing his secretary cause him to lose the trust of his flock - it isn't the fault of the reporter who reported the existence of the notes, it's the fault of the preacher.

When Hillary's victory train jumped the tracks it wasn't the fault of whoever leaked the DNC's emails, or the fault of those that published the damning data. It was the fault of those engaging in the practices referred to in those emails, practices that so many voters reacted negatively to, that it had a part in her not winning the presidency.

No one, AFAIK has disputed what the leaks revealed. Rather than admit that her team's machinations cost her the election, the Hillary team chose to blame Russia. She didn't accuse Russia of fabricating information about her campaign. She accused them of allowing the American public a peek behind the curtain. A peek that convinced so many voters to stay away from the polls that she lost.

It doesn't matter if it was Seth Rich, Putin's niece, or a Papal envoy who discovered the information. It doesn't matter if it was published by Pravda, The New York Times or the Toronto Star. Whoever found and published the information did a public service for the American public and American democracy by providing additional, truthful information which the American voter could ponder before making his or her decision.

...  Leaving the question: Where's the evidence? Where's the analysis based on such evidence? The DNC leaks and the DNC hacking made no difference. And even if it did and that was the source for Wikileaks releases that material was all 100% true straight out of Podesta's and Hillary's and others own mouths.
If that swung the election that's Hillary's & the DNC's fault not the leakers nor the hackers, whoever they were, from wherever they were from. ...
The people decided by a free and fair Vote. No Voting machines were hacked either. The final result in the key states were already being reflected in the higher quality Polling results in those key swing states. Trump's campaign knew that and targeted their advertising and rallies there. ...

Very good post, summing up the argument.
Thanks Lurk

I expect the chances of Rosenstein getting the axe on Thursday are probably pretty good (~ 65%).  Donnie has to make his move before Roger Stone and Assange fully enter the legal picture.  Trump cares more about stopping the investigation than he does about the midterms.  If Trump doesn’t stop the investigation soon, it won’t matter what happens in the midterms.  And Trumps cronies seem to be setting the table for that to happen.

I’m sure Trump will try to force/guide Rosenstein into resigning ... but I doubt Rosenstein will resign.

Thursday is potentially a big day.  Donnie needs Kavanaugh to do well, or at least not poorly ... and the Republicans need to keep Flake, Murkowski, and Collins in the Kavanaugh camp (at least two of them).

Everybody gets a turn in the stocks: House republicans want all these people to talk.

"former FBI Director James Comey, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates."

"Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS; former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos; former Justice Department deputy counterintelligence chief Richard Scott and former FBI official Bill Sweeney."

"Ohr's wife, Nellie, who worked for Fusion GPS during the campaign, is also slated to testify next month, as is Jim Baker, the former FBI general counsel."

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/25/gop-comey-lynch-yates-fbi-bias-probe-842409

And they want the McCabe memos:

"initiated the process to issue a subpoena to the Justice Department for memos drafted by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe"

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/25/mccabe-memos-rosenstein-comey-841961

Trying to wrap it up. Bet the democrats reopen if they win the house.

My “inkling” is that Trump saw, after Kavanaugh’s accuser’s first hour plus of testimony, that Kavanaugh’s confirmation is NOT going to be assured.  Trump would be in a MUCH better place to fire Rosenstein IF the accuser had fallen flat in her testimony.  She did NOT fall flat ... so Trump has now pushed back his meeting with Rosenstein until AFTER the confirmation vote next week.

If Kavanaugh is confirmed next week ... then the chance of Rosenstein getting fired goes UP.  If Kavanaugh doesn’t get confirmed, then Rosenstein may have more time until Trump eventually fires him in order to sidetrack Mueller investigation.

Trump is running out of time...... Don’t make another mistake Donnie ...

Lindsay Graham for Attorney General ..... That should provide fireworks after the Midterms.  And that rumor should help to fuel the Democratic forces going into the midterms.  If Lindsay Graham will become the new AG ..... it will be more important for the Dems to have the majority in the Senate, because it looks like Lindsay Graham will do ANYTHING for King Trump.  ANYTHING.

When the rule-of-law is undermined (by the GOP) we can all expect increasingly strong, and frequent, political storms comparable to what James Hansen has warned about the coming Storms of his Grandchildren with continued global warming:

Title: "The next ugly fight: Impeachment(s)"

https://www.axios.com/kavanaugh-vote-impeachment-democrats-ford-d6ba557f-e6dc-4dc7-b560-e7536bd58129.html

Extract: "In a foreshadowing of how much uglier U.S. politics could get, top Democratic operatives are already talking about impeachment of Brett Kavanaugh as a 2020 campaign issue if he gets confirmed to the Supreme Court.

The war was embodied by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) who rallied the GOP by caustically accusing Democrats: "What you want to do is destroy this guy’s life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020."

•   The N.Y. Times' Jeremy Peters tweeted: "[W]hat I saw today was a fury between members of opposite parties that is as profound and unnerving as I've ever seen. They're not faking it."

Be smart
: If Kavanaugh is confirmed, Democrats could be expected to question the legitimacy of his swing Supreme Court vote. Congress degraded itself yesterday. And the Trump White House of course has serious credibility issues.

•   So the United States of America will be three-for-three in diminished trust in its branches of government."

Ya know, opinion pieces can't "bring" anyone "up to date"; they can only offer, you know, opinions. (Hence the term.) And that's even more true when the person offering up that opinion is someone like the abominable John Solomon[/url.]

There's no known cure for those who have swallowed whole the HILLARY!BENGHAZI!URANIUMONE!WHITEWATER!VINCEFOSTER!JACKABRAMOFF!MONICALEWINSKY!PRIVATESERVER!HEREMAILS!GEORGESOROS! line of nonsense propagated by Putin and the rabid GOP. But, JFC and FFS, can't we get a little critical thinking around here? We currently have a Russian stooge in the White House, and a passel of Rethuglicans trying their damnedest to permanently lock down their death grip on American political power even if that means instituting a full-fledged autocracy--yet some are *still* mumbling to themselves in the corner about a grandmother who will never again run for office, and who has been cleared of wrongdoing through and despite many dozens of investigations.

What gives? Why the obsession? Why the obfuscation? If you're upset about the way things are being run, stop trying to wrap decades-old conspiracy theories around a couple of retirees, and look instead at the Republican POTUS, or the Republican US Senate, or the Republican US House, or the Republican Cabinet, or the majority Republican state governorships, or the majority Republican state houses, or the Republican US Supreme Court.

I dislike the oft-used expression "this is a distraction from [insert writer's personal cause celebre]"
But Hillary as a  subject fits.  She's irrelevant to anything.  She's a distraction from much more important video games, even.  Getting back to World of Warcraft would be a more valuable use of time and attention.

Even in a month of Sundays. 99% of people on internet forums and news media comment sites are only interested in being a Blow Hard and pushing their OWN OPINIONS and BELIEFS 24/7/365

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one...but you *did* make me laugh, so that's something. It's funny, see, because I had to wade through thousands of words of your OWN OPINIONS and BELIEFS to find you diminishing the contributions of others here as their OWN OPINIONS and BELIEFS.

(Which reminds me: have you ever heard of Dunning-Kruger? Yeah, I didn't think so.)

Anyway, I'm not a trained seal; I don't sit up and bark on command, particularly not when those commands are strong echoes of the late, great Joe McCarthy--"Are you a paid up member of the Democrat Party Jim? Are you currently registered as a Democratic Party Voter?". At any rate, I've been married thrice, so you should know that better bullies than you have tried and failed with the Gestapo approach to conversation. I admire your persistence, though. (But to answer your question anyway, allow me to state with all due respect: it's none of your goddamn business.)

I'll ignore the rest of your diatribe, as I  usually do; as I stated, there's no known cure for the close-minded, so screaming at you over an internet forum certainly isn't going to move you off of your "Putin's awesome and the Clintons are the Devil!" soapbox.

Cheers...

Trump doesn't want to motivate Democrat voters by firing Rosenstein now:

Title: "Donald Trump puts to rest speculation he may fire Rod Rosenstein, says they get along 'very well'"

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/10/08/rod-rosenstein-donald-trump-meeting/1563389002/

Extract: "President Donald Trump said Monday he has no intention of firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, ending lingering uncertainty over the official's tenure in the wake of reports he had suggested invoking the 25th Amendment last year to remove Trump.

Trump and Rosenstein were expected to talk aboard Air Force One while flying to Orlando for an event with police chiefs.

“I get along very well with him,” he told reporters as he departed the White House. Asked if he planned to fire Rosenstein, Trump replied, "No, I don't.""

Trump said that he never met with Papadopoulos after the March 2016 meeting, but in today's tweet Papadopoulos says that he introduced Trump to the Egyptian president in September 2016.  I imagine that Mueller has known that Trump has been lying for a while now:

https://twitter.com/GeorgePapa19/status/1049053941583962112

Quote from Papadopoulos' Twitter: "By the time I introduced Donald Trump to the Egyptian president in September 2016, a politically motivated surveillance operation by at least the UK and Australia was targeted at me and the campaign for seven months. Who authorized that? Congress has the answers."

Mueller will soon manage to transfer ownership of Manafort's Trump Tower unit to the Federal Government; and I wonder how many of the Trump Organization's assets will be transferred to both state and federal governments before they are all finished investigating Team Trump:

Title: "Feds will soon own Manafort's Trump Tower unit, Mueller says"

But the Trump team’s use of JDAs has pushed legal boundaries, especially in the instances where the president’s lawyers claim to have maintained these relationships with defense teams representing Mueller targets who have flipped to cooperate with the Russia probe.

For legal experts, it’s an approach in line with the team’s broader strategy to ignore well-established norms, whether through campaign-style attacks on the special counsel or blunt, public assessments of Mueller’s movements.

“This president is mounting a full-court defensive press and is not particularly concerned with the optics of anything,” said a white-collar lawyer who represents a senior Trump official in the Russia investigation."

Mueller will need to determine whether the cited activities by Team Trump (including those by Don Jr., Erik Prince Rick Gates and George Nader) violated any laws regulating foreign participation in American elections:

Title: "Trump Campaign Aide Requested Online Manipulation Plans From Israeli Intelligence Firm"

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/08/us/politics/rick-gates-psy-group-trump.html

Extract: "A top Trump campaign official requested proposals in 2016 from an Israeli company to create fake online identities, to use social media manipulation and to gather intelligence to help defeat Republican primary race opponents and Hillary Clinton, according to interviews and copies of the proposals.

The campaign official, Rick Gates, sought one proposal to use bogus personas to target and sway 5,000 delegates to the 2016 Republican National Convention by attacking Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, Mr. Trump’s main opponent at the time. Another proposal describes opposition research and “complementary intelligence activities” about Mrs. Clinton and people close to her, according to copies of the proposals obtained by The New York Times and interviews with four people involved in creating the documents.

There is no evidence that the Trump campaign acted on the proposals, and Mr. Gates ultimately was uninterested in Psy-Group’s work, a person with knowledge of the discussions said, in part because other campaign aides were developing a social media strategy. Psy-Group’s owner, Joel Zamel, did meet in August 2016 with Donald Trump Jr., Mr. Trump’s eldest son.

Investigators working for Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel investigating Russia’s campaign to disrupt the 2016 election and whether any Trump associates conspired, have obtained copies of the proposals and questioned Psy-Group employees, according to people familiar with those interviews.

The proposal to gather information about Mrs. Clinton and her aides has elements of traditional opposition research, but it also contains cryptic language that suggests using clandestine means to build “intelligence dossiers.”

Though it appears that Trump campaign officials declined to accept any of the proposals, Mr. Zamel pitched the company’s services in at least general terms during a meeting on Aug. 3, 2016, at Trump Tower with Donald Trump Jr. That meeting, revealed in May by The Times, was also attended by George Nader, an emissary from the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, and by Erik Prince, a Republican donor and the founder of the private security company formerly known as Blackwater."

Regarding my Reply #1056:

Per Seth Abramson (see also his book "Proof of Collusion"): "Kushner says no to Zamel, sends him to Trump Jr.; Trump Jr. says yes to Zamel, sends him to UAE/Saudi Arabia for payment; Zamel coordinates with Cambridge Analytica, and UAE/Russia coordinate. Bannon, Flynn, Prince, Nader, and Trump Jr. all remain involved.", see also the two attached documents by Seth Abramson and the following related linked article:

Title: "The Dark Truth About Cambridge Analytica’s Ties to Trumpworld"

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/05/the-dark-truth-about-cambridge-analyticas-ties-to-trumpworld

Extract: "A partnership between an Israeli entrepreneur and the Mercer-backed analytics firm may connect two key threads in Robert Mueller’s investigation.

According to The Wall Street Journal, in mid-December 2016, Cambridge Analytica inked a business agreement with Psy-Group, an Israeli company that employed several former Israeli intelligence officials and aimed to shape public opinion through social media. Sources told the Journal that the agreement “outlines a partnership whereby the two firms could cooperate on a case-by-case basis to provide intelligence and social-media services,” and was designed in part to help both companies win government contracts—a potentially lucrative avenue, now that their preferred candidate was in office.

In a video published by British broadcaster Channel 4, former Cambridge Analytica C.E.O. Alexander Nix is overheard explaining tactics his firm had employed, including using bribes and prostitutes to entrap political opponents. “We use some British companies, we use some Israeli companies,” he said in the video, appearing to refer to Psy-Group. “From Israel. Very effective in intelligence gathering.” (Nix, who was fired from the firm in March, has since said he regretted his role in the video, and Cambridge Analytica has said it did not employ the methods he discussed.)

Nor is this the first time Zamel’s name has been mentioned in connection with the Trump campaign. Three months before the 2016 election, a second group convened at Trump Tower to meet with Donald Trump Jr. Those in attendance included George Nader, an emissary for crown princes from both the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia; Blackwater founder Erik Prince; and Zamel. Per The New York Times, Zamel talked up Psy-Group, claiming the company could give Trump “an edge” in his campaign—by that time, his firm had reportedly “drawn up a multi-million-dollar proposal for a social-media manipulation effort to help elect Mr. Trump.” (A lawyer for Zamel said he was not involved in the U.S. election.) The meeting has reportedly drawn the attention of Robert Mueller, whose probe appears to have expanded to encompass any and all foreign influence in the Trump campaign, in addition to potential Russian influence.

It remains unclear whether Zamel’s proposal was ever executed, but after the election, Nader paid Zamel up to $2 million for reasons that are still murky. Zamel has met with Mueller’s team, though his lawyer told the Journal that his client is “not a target” of the special counsel’s investigation. His company’s partnership with Cambridge Analytica may raise more questions than it answers. But at the very least, it begins to illuminate how the Trump Campaign and Psy-Group fit together after that pivotal day at Trump Tower."

Mueller (who apparently referred this matter to local authorties) is hitting individuals who may have colluded with Team Trump where it hurts, in the pocketbook:

Is Alfa Bank the same "Kremlin connected" Russian bank that paid Bill Clinton $500,000 for giving a talk? I'm sure that Mueller isn't concerned about Bill spending the night at Putin's home while his wife was Secretary of State, but the Daily Mail did have questions.

Having your fund raisers working with Russian spies isn't collusion, but I'm sure Mueller is well aware of that.

I believe that Mueller is much more interesting in the changes in the computer connection between Alfa Bank and the Trump campaign than Clinton's speaking fees.

Extract from the New Yorker article: "The Trump domain had been shut down after the Times contacted Alfa Bank’s representatives—but before the newspaper contacted Trump. “That shows a human interaction,” Max concluded. “Certain actions leave fingerprints.” He reasoned that someone representing Alfa Bank had alerted the Trump Organization, which shut down the domain, set up another one, and then informed Alfa Bank of the new address."

For those who wonder why the Mueller investigation is taking so long, ask yourself why the president's legal team is dragging-out the interview process.

Title: "Trump lawyers preparing written answers to Mueller questions: CNN"

Extract: "President Trump’s personal legal team is preparing written answers to questions submitted by special counsel Robert Mueller, CNN reported Thursday.

While the two sides have agreed on this initial round of questioning, the special counsel has reportedly insisted that Mueller’s team have the opportunity to follow up. Trump’s legal team and the special counsel are still negotiating if the president will be interviewed in person."

If Team Trump tries to block the transition of Mueller report (via the Justice Department) to Congress, then maybe the Watergate 'road map' can provide a pathway for one of Mueller's grand juries to transmit vital information directly to the House Judiciary Committee (especially if it is controlled by the Democrats after the midterms):

Title: "Judge orders partial release of Watergate 'road map'"

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/10/11/watergate-report-donald-trump-896046

Extract: "A federal judge has ordered the partial release of a Watergate report that fueled an impeachment drive against President Richard Nixon and could serve as a precedent for a similar effort aimed at President Donald Trump.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell granted a request Thursday to unseal a large chunk of the so-called road map that a federal grand jury in Washington sent to the House Judiciary Committee in early 1974.

The transmission to Congress more than four decades ago included a bare-bones summary of evidence from various witnesses, as well as supporting documents contained in a bulging olive-colored briefcase that prosecutors gave Judge John Sirica. The information detailed what the grand jury discovered about the Watergate break-in and Nixon’s involvement in subsequent efforts to cover it up.

“The primary significance of the document … lies in its role as a kind of model or template for subsequent impeachment referrals, a model that, ironically, has never been available for study and emulation,” they wrote last month. “If Mueller decides to send a report to Congress, perhaps through [Deputy Attorney General Rod] Rosenstein, the Road Map would be a vital touchstone for the public and Congress to assess his actions.”

Earlier this week, Justice Department lawyers asked for two weeks more to respond to the new request for the road map, but Howell gave them only until Friday to file a response."

Per the attached letter, the DOJ acknowledges that it still has a grand jury investigating the financial deals associated with Cohn's payments to Stormy Daniels; however, Cohn and most other Trump Organization officials have already cut pleas deals.  But the linked WSJ article notes that Donald Trump ordered Eric Trump to work with Cohn to settle this matter.  Therefore, there is a very real probability that the grand jury is investigating Eric Trump's involvement in matter of these illegal payments:

If the Democrats win control of the House in November, what will the House Oversight Committee, and Mueller, find out about Team Trump's (& particularly Jared Kushner's) financial ties to Saudi Arabia (and other Mideast states)?

Title: "Democrats’ promised Trump probes threaten to sweep up Mideast allies"

https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2018/10/democrats-promised-trump-probes-threaten-mideast-allies.html

Extract: "While Democrats only have an 18% chance of taking the Senate, their likelihood of sweeping the House currently stands at 78%, according to polling aggregator FiveThirtyEight. And they’ve made no secret about their intent to issue dozens of subpoena requests targeting the Donald Trump administration.

To date, Republicans on the highly politicized House Oversight Committee have blocked at least 64 subpoena requests, many of which implicate major US allies like Saudi Arabia, Israel and Turkey.

“The president’s, in my view, bizarre behavior with respect to the disappearance and likely death of Jamal Khashoggi is influenced by his business connections and his family’s business connections with the Saudis,” he said.

If/when the Democrats regain control of the House at noon on January 3rd 2019, Robert Mueller will then be free to begin transmitting information (say via one of his multiple grand juries) to the House without fear that Ryan et al will suppress his findings.  So remember Donald: as Winter is Coming so is Mueller.

The linked May 19, 2018 NYT article is well worth (re)reading, as it cite many examples of Team Trump's pre-election entanglements with key Middle Eastern emissaries:

Title: "Trump Jr. and Other Aides Met With Gulf Emissary Offering Help to Win Election"

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/19/us/politics/trump-jr-saudi-uae-nader-prince-zamel.html

Extract "Three months before the 2016 election, a small group gathered at Trump Tower to meet with Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son. One was an Israeli specialist in social media manipulation. Another was an emissary for two wealthy Arab princes. The third was a Republican donor with a controversial past in the Middle East as a private security contractor.

The meeting was convened primarily to offer help to the Trump team, and it forged relationships between the men and Trump insiders that would develop over the coming months — past the election and well into President Trump’s first year in office, according to several people with knowledge of their encounters.

Erik Prince, the private security contractor and the former head of Blackwater, arranged the meeting, which took place on Aug. 3, 2016. The emissary, George Nader, told Donald Trump Jr. that the princes who led Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were eager to help his father win election as president. The social media specialist, Joel Zamel, extolled his company’s ability to give an edge to a political campaign; by that time, the firm had already drawn up a multimillion-dollar proposal for a social media manipulation effort to help elect Mr. Trump."

Who knows whether Trump's lawyers will have submitted responses to Mueller's written questions by the time that Mueller starts issuing key findings to Rosenstein (for his decision of whether to make such findings public and/or to pass them on, or to sit on them):

Title: "Mueller Ready to Deliver Key Findings in His Trump Probe, Sources Say"

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-10-17/mueller-said-ready-to-deliver-key-findings-in-his-trump-probe

Extract: "Special Counsel Robert Mueller is expected to issue findings on core aspects of his Russia probe soon after the November midterm elections as he faces intensifying pressure to produce more indictments or shut down his investigation, according to two U.S. officials.

Specifically, Mueller is close to rendering judgment on two of the most explosive aspects of his inquiry: whether there were clear incidents of collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, and whether the president took any actions that constitute obstruction of justice, according to one of the officials, who asked not to be identified speaking about the investigation.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Mueller’s findings would be made public if he doesn’t secure unsealed indictments. The regulations governing Mueller’s probe stipulate that he can present his findings only to his boss, who is currently Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The regulations give a special counsel’s supervisor some discretion in deciding what is relayed to Congress and what is publicly released."

I would like to make it clear that my last post that Mueller is likely going to release key findings to Rosenstein after the midterms, does not in anyway mean that I think that the Mueller investigation will be completed anytime soon, as I think that we are at best halfway through the indictment process that will slowly zero in on Donald Trump.  In the way of evidence, I note that the Bloomberg article cites that Manafort likely is providing valuable evidence to Mueller, which is certainly not about an likely obstruction of justice charges; and also Cohn has already given 50-hours of testimony to Team Mueller and has now become a democrat.
