Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall (1979)
(the melody starts at 2m22, maybe you're in a hurry ;) )

"It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else, that prevents us from living freely and nobly" - Bertrand Russell
"It is preoccupation with what other people from your groups think of you, that prevents you from living freely and nobly" - Nanning
Why do you keep accumulating stuff?

A strange piece which was a surprise hit back in 1981, and is indeed very catchy.
Laurie Anderson with cryptic lyrics which appear to be about the Deep State, among other things.

'Cause when love is gone, there's always justice.
And when justive is gone, there's always force.
And when force is gone, there's always Mom. Hi Mom!

So hold me, Mom, in your long arms. So hold me,
Mom, in your long arms.
In your automatic arms. Your electronic arms.
In your arms.
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms.
Your petrochemical arms. Your military arms.
In your electronic arms.

Re: Laurie Anderson

Thank you for that oren! :)
Wow I haven't heard that song since probably 1981.
I really like it and it evokes in me some memories and emotions by timeperiod association although I don't remember the clip.
Thanks for giving some lyrics as well. Good lyrics.

A Dutch song with great protest lyrics:

Tol Hansse - Hoofdpijn, Rheumatiek (nl) (1978)

Via Google translate:
It is not all that easy
We are worried about love
But now I cry alright
To pollute the sea
Where the whale happily squirted
Are they now sick or dead?
S.O.S., a fish in need
Through the mess and the mess
Come on, people, it's the plague
You foul your own nest
The Cuckoo and the Griet also don't like our mess

refrain:
Headache, rheumatism, water supply, gas factory
Headache, rheumatism, water supply, gas factory

What you don't want you to do
You do not do the frog either
Do not discharge toxic sludge or gas
In the ditch or in the lake
You don't throw a garbage bag either
About neighbor's neat suit
Or a rusty gas stove
In the aquarium at your home
Let live, let live
But it shouldn't give such a mess
Soon only money will grow
On a large garbage dump

Refrain

So man paid his price
For his egoistic life
And makes everything grey and gray
In The earthly Paradise
Nature can be purchased soon
To walk through't Bos again
What you have to demolish first
Because it was so in the way
That nature that was a flop
Because it brought no penny
Yes, man is like the shark
That brings pennies in the Laai

Refrain

With the sea it goes wrong
All that oil on the waves
Has already performed a lot
Soon he will be asphalted
That cars are not worth it
Come, we go again on the horse
In the rush hour on such an animal
Are you at home in fifteen minutes
On the tandem to the beach
Regardless of your rank or position
Do not take solar oil with you
Because there is enough in the sea

Headache, rheumatics, water pipe, gas factory
"It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else, that prevents us from living freely and nobly" - Bertrand Russell

Andy Lee Robinson, "Ice Dream":

Which is the best answer to Sep-2012 ASI lost (compared to 1979-2000)?
50% [NSIDC Extent] or
73% [PIOMAS Volume]

Volume is harder to measure than extent, but 3-dimensional space is real, 2D's hide ~50% thickness gone.
-> IPCC/NSIDC trends [based on extent] underestimate the real speed of ASI lost.

This one is for a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.

I'd rather be insulted by you
Than someone I respect
If I don't share the same view
It's just my birth defect

That's a beautiful movie. And beautiful music and a beautiful compliment, thanks blumenkraft :).

I once saw this movie together with a beautiful girl. She was about to leave for Mexico a couple of days afterwards and so the next day I went to the train station photoboot to photograph myself in diverse outfits and expressions, holding cardboard signs with the last one reading "I'll miss you". Put it in an envelope and wrote a fantasy story about how I coincidentally found these photo's. She really liked that.

Another beautiful movie from the same era:

Nicola Piovani - La Vita è Bella (1997)

Do you like the movie?

I just made a post and noticed I was on 99.
So to celebrate me reaching 100, something I never expected to reach, I decided to add some music.

Since I am learning the recorder I have trawled for recorder music to motivate me. This song is where I want to get to. I am still a few years off from this but I think I will get there in time.
