Interesting contrast between the band and the audience in the Little Richard clip...

Nicholas Papadimitriou: The COVID-19 Fugue
Quote
A complex, 4-plus-voice fugue, based on the subject of ...the virus itself!
With some touches of artistic freedom, I interpreted "COVID-19" as an acronym for the musical terms "C° V-I D 1-9" (as explained at the beginning of the video) which when combined, shape a rather spicy fugue subject.
It was no surprise that the subject's 'unorthodox' nature made it quite challenging to integrate it in a tonal context;...a fact, however, that posed no obstacle to two-weeks worth of quarantine-induced free time, together with some Regerian/Mendessohnian inspiration.
[...] I created a 'viral' (pun intended, hopefully) fugue, which will take you on a journey across 7 tonalities, 12 subject entries and lots of juicy modulations.

----------------------
I love this kind of music video. Here is one more. Hallucinogenic drugs seriously disadvised! :)

Here is a more harmless thing. (The only complete piece I can play myself...)

Love that iconic performance by Joe. But he's also wonderfully easy to make fun of. I hope no Joe fans (of which I count myself one) are offended by a bit of fun:

Doe Maar - Is Dit Alles (nl) (1983)
"Is This All (There Is)"

Great lyrics and nice music. A Netherlandic classic. This band has been very influential in the early 80s.
Lyrics shown in video and a translation written below the video.

Finishing touch by me.

Sit down because I want to talk to you
I am no longer as happy as I was then
Don't be scared, I don't want to leave you
There is this something and I cannot help it

We are not short of anything, we have everything
A child, a house, a car and each other
But do you know dear what the case is
I'm looking for something more, I just don't know where

Is this all
Is this all
is this all there is (2x)

We are now just a play in thirteen parts
At the end all of us are gone
We live faithfully the lives of many others
I want something more, I want a little loose

Is this all
Is this all
is this all there is (2x)

Instrumental

Is this all
Is this all
is this all there is (2x)

Is this all (4x)

yeah come on now

Is this all (4x)

no no no

Is this all (4x)

Sharing this childhood memory.
When I was 4-6yo my parents had this 7" single which was one of my favourites, and I played it on their super duper all-in-one wooden stereo set with automatic disc changer (a 1965 wedding present from my grandparents). Listening with my ears close to the speakers this was like magic to me and a start of my love for music in general and good sound quality. I still have this single in my possession. On the other side is the song "Are You Sure".

I find this a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics and I love to whistle the tune.
I have transcribed and translated the lyrics, they are below the video.

Helga - Niemand Heeft Je Ooit Gezien (nl) (1972)

(3m01)

Nobody has ever seen you, but still you are from me
Nobody has ever seen you, but still you are with me
I was the very first to know of you
You are near but still far from here
Nobody has ever seen you, but still you are with me
Here under my heart begins your life
Here under my heart grows the happiness
Your young life, and my happiness
Nobody has ever seen you, nobody who knows you yet
Nobody knows whether you are a boy or a girl
Even though your father is a handsome man
This I don't know in detail yet
Nobody has ever seen you, nobody who knows you yet
Very patiently I have to wait for you
But I count the days with a smile
Yes I will wait, but with a smile
Nobody has heard your voice, but I have ordered you
Everything I own, that's for your life
You bring me unrest and you bring me peace
But what you bring, is fine with me
I will sing once more and then you have to sleep
La lala la laa lala la laailaaa
La lala la laa lala la laaa
La lala lailaa lala lai laaa
Lai lalai lalai lalaaa la lailai lalailaaa
etc.

This one is so wrong. It´s a bit like All Saints covering Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. No link because well can´t justify it.

Herman Van Veen - Opzij (nl) (1979)

HASTE
From a multi-facetted Netherlandic artist, this is about haste in a fun way.
I like the base rhythm of the Tuba + piano
and it has a canon part.

The lyrics are translated by me and listed below the youtube video. I like lyrics that are not about man/woman/love/leaving/pain/emotions as most other lyrics are.

With a funny (Benny Hill-farce) clip featuring Herman van Veen, the singer/composer:
(3m11)

Move, move, move
Make room, make room, make room
We are in an unbelievable haste
Move, move, move
Because we are almost too late
We have but a few minutes time

We have to run, fly, dive, fall, get up and go on
We can not stay now, we cannot stay here any longer

Perhaps another time
Then we will stay to sleep
And perhaps then if necessary
Have some small talk about football and games
Well good bye, so long and all the best to you

We have to run, fly, dive, fall, get up and go on
We can not stay now, we cannot stay here any longer

(canon)
Perhaps another time
Then we will stay to sleep
And perhaps then if necessary
Have some small talk about football and games
Well good bye, so long and all the best to you

...

Perhaps another time!

He is posting a translation so the non dutch spëakers (quite a lot on the planet) can enjoy the lyrics too. It is a great song and a good translation although i would use rush instead of haste.

Now i am going to listen to it. Haven´t heard it for a while. The first part pops into my head often enough (opzij opzij opzij etc) but i am curious about that canon.
