Not a lot of trees in northern Greenland AFAIK.  Is there a fuel dump in that area?
The ice was here, the ice was there,
The ice was all around:
It crack'd and growl'd, and roar'd and howl'd,
Like noises in a swound!

Lots of low growing vegetation adapted to cold dry conditions up there. Last year I believe there were fires due to drought - UK had bad heath land fires this year - similar nature of vegetation (+ peat underneath).

This seems like a good thread to post future wildfires in.

Fires were also discussed in the 2017 Greenland melting season.

Lightning on Greenland?

I highly suspect some of the locals didn't put out their campfire properly.

Greenland Was on Fire This Week Amid 'Unprecedented' Arctic Burn

Quote
The fire lit up near Qeqqata Kommunia on Greenland’s western flank. It appears near a shelter on the Arctic Circle Trail and it’s possible that hikers started the fire unintentionally or otherwise. Fire crews were able to smother the flames according to the Greenlandic Broadcasting Corporation. But forecasts from the European Commission’s Global Wildfire Information System shows that the risk of fires remains high to very high over the next week in western Greenland.

I stand corrected...
