Donna Brazile: Joe Biden is our next president. Whether Trump accepts it or not, let's get to work
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/joe-biden-president-trump-donna-brazile
Quote
The Electoral College voted Monday to elect Biden as our next president, affirming his impressive and legitimate victory in the Nov. 3 election. Last week the Supreme Court rejected an effort by President Trump and his allies to overturn the election by invalidating the votes of millions of people in four states carried by Biden.
President-elect Biden received 306 electoral votes to President Trump’s 232 — the exact margin of victory that Trump won four years ago when he defeated Hillary Clinton. In the popular vote, Biden received almost 81.3 million votes, compared to 74.2 million for Trump.

Even Fox News accepts it! Is it time to close this thread?

Disclaimer: I do not support Donald Trump or his quixotic campaign to change the outcome of the election.

That being said, wasn't Donna Brazile caught funneling Hillary Clinton primary debate questions in advance (cheating) back in 2016? She was a key component of that whole sham operation the DNC was running in that election to ensure HRC was coronated. I wouldn't exactly consider her a fair or unbiased source of anything, especially now that she has run to Fox News (she only joined in 2019 iirc). I don't think she deserves any credibility or attention, even if I agree with her point in the article. Any statements regarding election integrity out of her are pure hypocrisy.

Trump's End Game
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/12/trumps_end_game.html
Quote
The only hope now -- and it is as good, if not better, than any hope since voting ended -- lies in the alternate electors for Trump sent Monday by seven states. The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is sure to ignore the Trump alternate electors, so Trump can’t win at this stage. But the Republican-controlled Senate also will consider electors, and if they choose Trump’s over Biden’s, it’s a standoff: the House for electing Biden, the Senate for electing Trump.
The rules for choosing between competing electors are vague. Congress may choose not to count states with two sets of electors, which automatically means neither candidate reaches the necessary 270 electoral votes. This is never-before-traveled terrain.
The resulting deadlock would make Congress unable to announce a winner.
Then the matter will go, per the Constitution, exclusively to the House of Representatives, where each state will get only one vote and where Republican states outnumber Democratic states. Voila! Trump is reelected.

Alright, is this AT-style delusion or could this scenario (as convoluted as the Presidential Succession scenario in the TV series Salvation) actually happen?
Could this world possibly get any bloody worse!?

As of December 26, American Thinker still thinks Trump can win:
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/12/its_for_mike_pence_to_judge_whether_a_presidential_election_was_held_at_all.html
Quote
The central point is that the VP, as the presiding officer and final authority, has the unquestionable authority to declare that the states in question have not conducted presidential elections.  There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, but no one has the authority to override his decision.
The statement says nothing about who might or might not have "won" the contested states.  Rather, by not following their own laws, as enacted by their own legislatures, they have violated Article II, Section 1.  Thus, they have not conducted an election, and their results are void.
If the votes of all seven contested states are registered as zero, President Trump will have 232 votes, and Joe Biden will have 222.  The 12th Amendment says, "[T]he votes shall then be counted[.] ...  The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President[.]"
In plain language, Donald Trump will be re-elected, since he has a majority of the actual electoral votes.  There will be no need to involve the House of Representatives to resolve a contingent election.
This is what they expect to happen January 6. Is this what is keeping alt-Right violence down? They don't think the election is over with yet? Will we see upheavals January 7?

two hardcore trump supporters die and ascend to heaven.
God meets them at the pearly gates and asks if they have any questions.
One of them says, “yes, what were the real results of the 2020 election and who was behind the fraud?”.

God says, "my son, there was no fraud. Biden won the electoral college fair and square, 306 to 232”.

After a few seconds of stunned silence, the one guy turns to the other and whispers, “This goes higher up than we thought”.

Great site, Tor!
There were some more Trump jokes there, and even the others were usually pretty good.
Meanwhile, to show the joke is real, American Thinker still holds out hope:

140 House Republicans Will Object to Electoral Tally

January 1, 2021 at 3:23 pm EST By Taegan Goddard

The lawsuit Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) filed to force Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the Electoral College vote claims that 140 of his Republican House colleagues will join him in objecting to the results of the presidential election.
Alas, this is no joke.  It does give an indication of how many Republicans have drunk that particular Kool-Aid.  (not my flavor)

In defiance of Trump, Senate overrides defense veto
Quote
Georgia GOP Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, who are in runoff elections that will decide which party controls the Senate and are scheduled to appear at a rally with Trump on Monday, did not vote on the override.
I think this was a lose-lose-lose proposition for the two Senators in the Jan 5 runoff election.
  • vote to override:  opposite what Trump asked folks to do
  • vote to oppose override:  they are against supporting the US military
  • not vote (which is what they both did): they are not participating in the Senate they serve
Perdue has an excuse:  he was exposed to COVID-19 recently and is in quarantine.

Concerning this 'issue' (everything is political!) for Perdue:
  • His quarantining himself gives credence to "the virus is real," a turn off for may Republicans
  • His getting exposed suggests he doesn't know how to physical distance.  He's only had 9+ months to learn.

Voting in the Georgia runoff elections is underway.  Democrats need to win both seats to forge a 50-50 tie, with Harris being the tie-breaking vote.  Both races are close, and the Democrats do have a chance.  However, history is not on their side for the following reasons.

1.  Republican voters tend to cast their ballots at a higher rate in runoff elections and non-presidential elections than Democrats.

2.  Republican candidates for each seat received more votes in November than the corresponding Democratic candidates.  None received more than 50%, so a runoff ensued.

3.  Republican candidates for the Senate fared bettered than Trump in the 7 closest races (AZ, GA, IA, MN, MI, NC, and TX), by almost 1%.  Biden won Georgia by a mere 0.2%.

4.  The few polls in the race show a slight lead for both Democratic candidates, but the polls in the general election showed a 1% greater advantage for Biden than the actual outcome.  Eight of the 12 Senate polls in the week before the November election gave Ossoff (D) the advantage, by an average 0f 1.5% (Perdue received 1.8% more votes).

The one advantage for the Democrats is Trump.  He cannot keep his mouth shut, and recent remarks have only resulted in energizing Democratic voters.  Should be an interesting night.

NYTimes (picture below) thinks both Democrats will win Georgia Senate seats.  From MSNBC, about 5 counties, all Democratic leaning or dominated, have on the order of 100,000 votes to count, and Warnock is 20K ahead and Ossoff is 20K behind.

Raphael Warnock (D) just won the first Georgia Senate seat and John Ossoff (D) took a 3,500 vote lead with about 60,000 to be counted, mostly from democrat counties.  It looks like the Democrats will have a 50- 50 Senate majority, because Vice-President elect Harris will be casting the tie-breaking votes!  This is great news for the fight against climate change.

If Biden resigns (he is pretty long in the tooth) and Harris becomes President, and there is a tie vote before a new VPOTUS is picked, what happens?

Ossoff's lead now 16k .. likely to increase beyond the <0.5% threshold for a recount . Congratulations to all concerned and thanks to Trump for his assistance . Georgia ; really ? .. a black pastor and a Jew ?
Black votes mattered ! I love it :)
Trump and the republicans had the Whitehouse , the Senate and the House . They have succeeded in losing everything . b.c.

Democrat Jon Ossoff Claims Victory Over David Perdue In Georgia Runoff
https://www.npr.org/2021/01/06/952417689/democrat-jon-ossoff-claims-victory-over-david-perdue-in-georgia-runoff

Democrat Jon Ossoff — who as of 9 a.m. ET Wednesday leads Republican David Perdue by about 16,000 votes in the Georgia runoff that could give Democrats control of the U.S. Senate — claimed victory Wednesday. The Associated Press, which NPR relies on for its results, has not yet called the contest.

If Biden resigns (he is pretty long in the tooth) and Harris becomes President, and there is a tie vote before a new VPOTUS is picked, what happens?
A tie vote (the VP could be in 'Outer Mongolia' and unavailable, etc.) means there was not a majority and the motion fails.  Tie votes occasionally happen in the House where there is never a remedy (other than twisting of arms and re-voting).

If the Senate was hyper-polarized and the President-by-succession nominates a VP, the Senate might never approve.  Before the 1970s (25th Amendment) the VP office was vacant until the next election (and ascension to office), 13 times for more than a year.
