Seasons Greeting New Year 2019
« on: December 31, 2018, 01:35:11 PM »
Just a quick note to say Seasons Greetings & a Happy New Year and thanks to all at ASIF - especially the regular up-daters & commentators on the thawing/freezing/thawing global sea ice threads etc - and of course the keen-eyed observers that take the time to share their observations of the Nares, PIG and WAIS & other pinch points too...

I have done this as a separate thread to (hopefully) avoid clogging the others !

Nice initiative Charles. I too wanted to write something but didn't want to clutter.
Happy New Year! To the regular updaters, the rational observers, the newbies and the lurkers. Let's hope for a better year for science and an improved world in 2019.

Further to what Oren wrote, I want to extend 'good science for all' to the irregular posters, irrational contributors, disappointed contrarians, superstitious conspiracy theorists and everyone else!

Rabbit rabbit rabbit (for when the new month is local in your location) - but I attempt to follow my version of this tradition for cultural reasons...

And (a few hours ago), happy new year for everybody (who follows variations on the Julian calendar).

In 45 B.C., New Year’s Day is celebrated on January 1 for the first time in history as the Julian calendar takes effect.

I'm with the ancient Greeks and posted my new year greetings here:
Mornin' & Happy New Earth Cycle! No use for my Eddi (or batteries), this time of year.

Not interested in the dark side of this earth cycle at all, my 5360Wp PV's has produced 0.06kWh so far today and that's pretty much it, it's getting dark(er). A little snow on them for once...

Adding the graph from yesterday. Brighter days are coming.

There’s no natural reason to celebrate New Year’s Day on January 1, but for those into that two-faced Roman god, what a smashin' start we had.
Omnia mirari, etiam tritissima.

So excited for the near year - you have no idea. Last year was trash and I'm happy to see it gone. I agree with and share the same sentiment that I hope this one is more quiet. I'm going to start off right and have zero alcohol for the month of January and I also singed up for every running challenge on Strava and shall earn the badges.
pls!
