Bremen False Color Animations
« on: May 27, 2019, 11:05:18 PM »
Couldn't find an appropriate thread to move these animations to, so made a new one. Please let me know if there's a better place. Here is a description as well as smaller mp4 versions:

To add another animation to the mix, here's a cropped version of the Bremen false color map, Apr 1st to present. Also the same images but, mainly in an attempt to reduce cloud artifacts, smoothed by using for each pixel the 5-trailing-days' median value. (https://seaice.uni-bremen.de/databrowser/)

If you want to lower the file size of your GIFs you can do that easily here >> https://ezgif.com/optimize

Last week my router broke and until the new one arrived i was depending on very slow mobile data. It was hell when confronted with big files...

Anyway, thanks for these animations. :)

Funny, that's just the site that I've been using. I have done that optimization, as well as shrinking. But the size problem with these particular gifs is due to having many frames, 2 months' worth. Because it's the first time I've posted them, I wanted to start at the beginning of the season. The next batch will be maybe 2-4 weeks, something like that. And I guess I'll put them on the melting thread but make them click-to-animate (>700 px wide), so they don't consume much bandwidth for those who don't wish it.
