Arctic Sea-Ice Science Pivots to Forecasting

I made a point on the blog fairly recently that the scientific attention on Arctic Sea-Ice would soon change from observing and predicting the decline of September mean Arctic Sea Ice to creating forecasts of the sea-ice that are of use to commercial shipping and drilling. This is now beginning to happen.

This is an illustration of how rapid the change in the Arctic has been.
