All Greenland Fjords could be Sea Ice Free in 2019.
« on: August 01, 2019, 02:11:54 PM »
The real big difference, in my opinion, to the Sea Ice situation in 2019 compared to especially 2012 and 2016, is the  sea ice around Greenland and particularly in the extreme north of Greenland including Wulff Land, Nares Land, Freuchen Land, Nansen Land, Johannes V. Jensen Land and Peary Land where at least 30 fjords, sounds and bays alone are located.
I expect all of these fjords sounds and bays to be sea ice free by mid-September 2019 and this never happened before in the history of satellite surveillance, and both 2012 and 2016 looks pretty cold compared to 2019 if you ask me, take a look at the animation you may need to click on it to enlarge and play!

I've been thinking the same thing, those fjords look positively balmy!
because a thing is eloquently expressed it should not be taken to be as necessarily true

And this also means less buttress for ice tongue, and more ocean action.

P.S. : Sorry... Don't believe the spell checker sometimes  :P

the satellite comparisons are hardly fair .. the 2012 and '16 are taken well after the refreeze has begun .. August 4th both years shows a different picture .

I'm not disagreeing with the thought .. just the pictures . b.c.

oops .. had been scrolling years rather than days .. but Worldview  show very different conditions in early August . This year is however in a league of it's own ..

Conflict is the root of all evil , for being blind it does not see whom it attacks . Yet it always attacks the Son Of God , and the Son of God is you .

Another example of a Fjord being prepared for sea ice removal is the large Independence Fjord about 230 km in length including Hagen Fjord, Danmark Fjord, Jørgen Brønlund Fjord, Astrup Fjord, Sjælland Fjord, Holbæk Bugt and a few more. The images in the animation are from yesterday and today:

The one I am most interested in is the bay next to Zachariae Isstrom, which is filled with icebergs from constant calving, but is only cleared of the bergs once every ~2 years in August when the sea ice happens to be gone. The way things have been progressing nearby, it definitely seems 2019 will be one the clearance years.

I believe Zachariae Isstrøm and Jøkelbugt will be cleansed this year almost like this:
