Eleven here expect 2020 to tie/beat 2012. As I mentioned on the other poll, this is a good marker for severe meteorological problems, given Hurricane Sandy's behavior that year.

There are only 65 votes in this poll.  That is the lowest number of participants ever, by far.

Number of people voting in the June JAXA polls on this forum:

2016:  142 people
2017:  123 people
2018:  121 people
2019:  112 people
2020:    65 people

It's a challenge to keep the sea ice story interesting. Many expected a quicker path to some kind of climactic finish and there has been no records for seven years. It's like a television series....there needs to be some evolution in the plot and characters to maintain interest.

Other forms of collapse are providing more compelling drama.

Nonsense. There have been winter records and 365-day records and crazy low volume in 2017 and a very respectable 2nd place last year after leading for a long part of the season. Level of interest did not suddenly plummet in 2020 just because it's been 7 years. Explanations could vary but I'm quite sure it's not the one you gave.

Sorry, I came too late.
If not, it would have been between 3.5 - 4.0 for me.

That's probably it, more and more users neither like to compete nor to play and then some are just interested and test their forecasting skills for themselves.

I for my part vote for a mix of interest and likeing to play and dispise the third option that is a root for many evil things that happen on spaceship earth.

Reading through eventual disputes from time to time the option out from any poll is always lurking in the back of my head and i assume this is the case with many more users that are interested in their causes more than in their ranking among guessers ;)
