Inland calving.

Unnamed Glacier North Greenland.

Just stumbled over an image from 1984, a massive calving happening ? far away from open water in N. P. Johansen Land (North Greenland). Calving width 2 - 3 km.
Probably due to emptying of a sub glacial lake. Luckily no people live in this area.

It looks like the ice has advanced in the last 35 years?

I think I found the same location? Also the small canyon to the East of the ice calving is now filled with water.

Yes you are right, the area is refilled again. The lake is about 13 km2 in area.
