The wind over the Barents sea is so strong that it's blowing Santa Claus and his wife out of the Arctic...

But this one is sort of easy to see. Some of the older monochrome ones are harder but maybe it´s because i played with this way back.

The face of the Northern Lights captured by Thurso photographer
Quote
The Man in the Moon may be a well-known phenomenon but a Thurso photographer captured the 'face' of the Northern Lights during last night's (March 23) spectacular display across Caithness.

Scott Livingstone saw in a moment how the aurora beams merged in the middle to form a face that was so perfectly formed that many might think it was a fake.

The image is all too real, however, and was taken at the precise moment the face was formed before disappearing into the glittering beams of the Aurora Borealis witnessed by many across the county last night.

I can only see some kind of bird.  Upright, filling all the rubble-ized space, facing left, rather fat legs, for a bird.

I actually do see a face, very elongated skull rising to the left, nose and lips on the middle right.

It’s a warning that the world’s Central Nervous System is about to prove its might, thankfully offshore.

Dylan's Christmas Lights: A Scholarly Treatise

(...)
Starting in December 2008 we noticed that the hedges in front of his property were decorated with a string of Christmas lights. We stopped to look at them because the average version of a decorated yard in my neighborhood looks more or less like an outdoor courtyard at a four star hotel. Many of the residents seem to hire the same company to wrap their trees and shrubbery for them. Those houses all look somewhat like this
(snip)
I was moved to photograph it because, much the way he forged his own path in music, he was exhibiting an independence of style in his Christmas decorating. His approach, conjuring images of a string of loose lights having been casually tossed into the hedge by someone in a hurry, seemed to be making a faux-naïve statement, not unlike a Matisse or a Chagall. Because I grew up in a world where nothing that Mr. Dylan ever did was too insignificant not to be worthy of serious intellectual scrutiny, I immediately understood that this was no ordinary, haphazardly arranged, string of colored lights. It had to contain a deeper meaning.

This amazing foal was born with a patch by his mane that looks like another horse.
The pattern is such a work of art that the foal's owners have called him Da Vinci, or Vinny for short.

I always got a chuckle that the opening credits for the “Alien Nation” TV series used video of a crowd of people (supposedly) staring at a large standing lenticular cloud to represent a huge alien ship arriving.  The cloud formations can look pretty spooky.

TL;DR: We introduce a dataset of over 5000 human annotated pareidolic images. We also link pareidolia in algorithms to the process of learning to detect animal faces.

The human visual system is well-tuned to detect faces of all shapes and sizes. While this brings obvious survival advantages, such as a better chance of spotting unknown predators in the bush, it also leads to spurious face detections. "Face pareidolia" describes the perception of face-like structure among otherwise random stimuli: seeing faces in coffee stains or clouds in the sky. In this paper, we study face pareidolia from a computer vision perspective. We present an image dataset of "Faces in Things", consisting of five thousand web images with human-annotated pareidolic faces. Using this dataset, we examine the extent to which a state-of-the-art human face detector exhibits pareidolia, and find a significant behavioral gap between humans and machines. We explore a variety of different strategies to close this gap and discover that the evolutionary need for humans to detect animal faces, as well as human faces, explains some of this gap. Finally, we propose a simple statistical model of pareidolia in images. Through studies on human subjects and our pareidolic face detectors we confirm a key prediction of our model regarding what image conditions are most likely to induce pareidolia.
