Showcase your climate data visualisation talent

Are you a creative visionary with a passion for climate action? Enter ESA’s latest competition to showcase your talent by transforming decades of satellite climate data into impactful visuals to help bridge the gap between climate science, policy makers and the wider public. The winner will have the unique opportunity to display their data visualisation at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) taking place later this year.

Hi, this is my first post here. I'm from the Netherlands.

I made a visualization of the mass balance of Greenland, based on the data provided by Mankoff et al. It contains 38 years of data, but you can see every single day.

Earlier I made visualizations like this with other climate data, like precipitation, build-up water amount and periods of drought in The Netherlands (in Dutch)

And it works very well with temperature data. Please click on one of the city names on the map of  the US (sorry, it's very out of date)

Welcome Bart!
Þetta minnismerki er til vitnis um að við vitum hvað er að gerast og hvað þarf að gera. Aðeins þú veist hvort við gerðum eitthvað.

Nice work.  It's always good to see different kinds of visualizations of the data.

Your graphic clearly shows the main events (e.g. the very strong melt in 2012), but it also has a lot of small details that are very interesting to look at.  I already spent several minutes looking at it.

Out of curiosity (since this is the Developers Corner): which tools did you use to generate those graphics?  Did you use a programming language for it, or is it based entirely on spreadsheets?
