When will the Northwest Passage "open" in 2024?

You might think that would be the last "commercial" transit of the Northwest Passage this year, but you would be wrong. Sister ship Amurborg has just crossed the Arctic Circle heading north.

Given that they weren't issuing daily charts of McClure Strait at the time, what's the probability that the CIS would have declared route 1 "open" before any of the others?

Not sure who won, but the CAA certainly lost. All passageways are still wide open, and not by a slim margin either.

The Parry Channel is still remarkably free of sea ice. The old ice that filtered through the CAA "garlic press" into Viscount Melville Sound and Barrow Strait earlier in the month has melted away to nothing:

However, according to the latest CIS charts routes 5,6 and 7 are currently "closed"

I'm not the CIS, but I'd plump for all those who selected route 5 in the first half of August:
