Any suggestions what this new sound should be called?

But the above report was hastily produced in a wonderful place in Nieder Sachsen, Germany. Attended a meeting (re. the arctic), from what I hopefully can report about in future. Next week I will discuss with people in Greenalnd and Copenhagen about several issues regarding the above and more, I will inform you when I know more.

What do you make of this :

The infamously named Bigberg 2013 area showed some really remarkable devlopment today : it's almost like it did "poof". The last frame shows the whole area broken up, al the fast ice gone.

I checked against the latest http://earthdata.nasa.gov/labs/worldview/ and the area is visible on the 10th, al bits and pieces, waiting for the current to pick them up.

Hi Lars,

There is still a large piece the one I think you call Bigberg 2013, as soon as I can get some clear images I will explain what is left of the fast (offshore) ice around Jøkelbugt.

The red area indicates what is left of the fast ice.

I have made a new update of the area, although the image is crowded with clouds.

If that's your video, adding the last frame multiple times will make the video "freeze" on the last frame so that people have a chance to study it for a moment.

Greenland is looking like it will have no more fast ice on its east coast.  Lots of melting is going to happen off that coast as  CAB ice enters via the Fram.  All the Atlantic heat can be used to melt transported ice.

I think it already happened, at least it looks so on todays Modis images. I will confirm it when I receive the landsat images from today:

Breaking NewsAfter years of studying images and datas as you can read above, I can now with full documentation from Landsat 1-5-8 and Sentinel 2 declare a new free island of the coast of North East Greenland, this time we have Lindhard Ø a pretty large island in the release "competition" with aprox. 260 km² and big enough to become the 10^th largest island in Denmark (Greenland and Faroe Islands not included).
It is not every year we see island releases, we had a small one this spring in Giesecke Isfjord https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1371.msg194164.html#msg194164 and a very spectacular release in front of Kjer Gletscher in 2017 https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1209.msg109997.html#msg109997

I have 2 sets of documentation one from Landsat using data all the way from Landsat 1 (1973 - 2019) and the more recent data from Sentinel 2 (2016-2019).
As you can see from the animations below big differences have taken place during this period.
