Over on Real Climate they have an article linking to a bunch of new interactive maps done by Berkley Earth.  I have been playing around with them.  Very interesting.

Climate Data Visualization with Google Maps Engine Through a partnership with Google we’ve created a number of different interactive climate maps using their new Maps Engine. These include maps of temperature trends from different periods to present (1810, 1860, 1910, 1960, 1990), maps of record high and low temperatures, and other interesting climate aspects like average temperature, daily temperature range, seasonal temperature range, and temperature variability. - See more at: http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2014/03/new-daily-temperature-dataset-from-berkeley/#more-16949

Both maps, books, and the National Geographic have been part of my life for over 50 years. Finding this erudite and scientific message board analysis along with Neven's other site has been a delight and I have been lurking around both for some time now, maybe a little afraid to post as I often still can not interpret all/much of the stuff you citizen scientists have been elaborating on here so well;-).

Never the less .. here is my first contribution/link for your enjoyment. I think maps are VERY important and share a great deal of information-->http://www.juancole.com/2014/06/thats-arctic-melted.html
