You see I'm stuck Laurent - I really dont believe that the current warming is out of the ordinary and I also dont think that CO2 will reach harmful levels for a very long time. I know that may set us apart - but i do respect anyones position or right to an opinion, so I hope my views dont cause a problem!!
Having said that there is every reason to manage what we do to everybodies benefit. There is no point in preaching to people who have lung diseases due to their wood/dung fires (as an example) when we have clean efficient energy for our own use....... it is important that they learn to live by the standards that we do not the standards we choose to impose on them.
There is no excuse for rapidly expanding and rich countries to pollute the environment in such a way that large numbers of people or even the globe itself are compromised and that is where my anger with the modern world lies. CO2 is of great benefit to a massively overpopulated world (in my opinion as an agriculturalist), losing coastline and land mass to the sea may be a step back for mankind, but at our rate of expansion is inevitable at some point no matter what we do - at least crops will grow at their maximum efficiency to feed the masses.
Of far greater worry is the loss of life due to poverty and pollution and the western world has a lot to answer for on that one. Whilst we throw trillions of dollars at fairly useless climate models, inefficient windfarms and expensive talking shops, we conciously neglect the poorest people. To me that is far more unforgiveable.
I think the world is a very sad place - especially Africa - if we were to help them improve their standard of living - only then will they show concern for our collective future.
I believe the world will find its own balance - with or without us. But balance as humans would be a good starting point
