Flade Isblink / North Greenland / North East Greenland
« on: July 20, 2014, 06:34:26 PM »
I just stumbled over this on one of my field trips:
If you cant find enough ice melting elsewhere, then watch this animation, it is from the very north of Greenland, here you find the Ice Cap / Glacier named Flade Isblink, the animation contains 2 images and they are exactly 8 years apart on the date, watch how the the whole area is melting this year compared to 2006:

Two discussion papers from ocean-sci-discuss earlier this year of the first CTD measurements in Wandel Hav. Nice data. Hydrography is interesting. Open access. Read all about it:

Hvidebugt began bursting out high velocity discharge heading into the freezing season of 2022. Attached are a couple of animations exploring the situation. It may be result of subglacial lake drainage.

A study of the area was released soon before the glacier went into overdrive:
"Filling and drainage of a subglacial lake beneath the Flade Isblink ice cap, northeast Greenland"
https://tc.copernicus.org/articles/16/2671/2022/
Though declared emergency, climate change is exploited and exacerbated to keep unsustainable nuisance scooter and nuisance bike EVs obstructing streets across most cities causing climate change skepticism. Carelessly declared child toys in NZ. Terminable batteries explode toxic emissions on expiry.

Due to the very special situation around Flade Isblink, Greenland's largest separate ice sheet.

Which for the first time, perhaps ever, at least this early in the melting season is largely sea ice free on the inner side towards the Independence Fjord complex. Flade Isblink contains several small and large tidewater glaciers, and some of these will probably be activated by this new condition.

The "permanent" ice on Magrethe Ø will certainly be damaged by this.

At 14Z today Station Nord was at 15.9° C. Not far from the August record.

Ok, it didn't look like the photos were taken from that height, but thanks for the photos, always interesting to see something very current, and I have located the various places, but unfortunately they are all unnamed, according to my official maps.

With no accumulation zones those small glaciers won’t be needing names for long.

There will certainly be a lot of window dressing in the coming time of the inner glaciers of Flade Isblink.
