anyone elses weather radar tripping ?
« on: September 11, 2014, 07:30:32 AM »
wtf is this, the whole SW just got covered in scatter, and WV map shows nothing, and just some scattered clouds out now.

Did the methane curtain just blow in ?

Here in Ohio, it is heavy overcast, with rain and drizzle at times, so the scattering on our radar  might be legit.  I do see some scatttering on the local radars.   But then, isn't that fairly common over cities?

Nah , this is over the desert, with the jet stream flowing by.

We typically see this when there is overcast, and "virga" rain evaporating before it hits the ground.

To see this only as reflection directly above the stations, looks like it could be a hydroxyl reaction ?

Would also explain why often over cities, the older cities nat gas pipes are leaking pretty heavily.

Wonder if there is science in there. Someone just published a JS map to look up how much your city is leaking. wonder if they are the same cities that show regular scatter, when winds are low.....

water vapor map for same time last night.  Wish i could get methanetracker.org to work

[mods, can move this to weird weather, but was hoping someone else under jet stream was up]
