Consequences / Re: The Climatic Effects of a Blue Ocean Event
« on: March 18, 2021, 02:45:15 PM »
Are not the circumstances different today than in the Eemian and Holocene?

We have taken GHG levels back millions of years. Far beyond the Eemian and Holocene. What we will see will likely be much different than in those eras.

The politics / Re: Elections 2020 USA

Trump is and always has been a clown and an embarrassment to America. That was the case before he was elected President and remains the case now. With climate destabilization well under way our ability to grow enough food to feed 7+ billion people is becoming compromised. I'd say that bringing extra lives into this world is immoral and criminal based on that. If one truly cares about life then don't bring another human life into this world. Wanting to shove more people on to the planet is an indication that you clearly don't value life at all.

To be honest, 74 is pretty old. But no doubt Cain got the virus at the Trump rally, is this some sort of belated revenge against him for running against el presidente?

Nope, unfortunately it's just some wicked form of karma for downplaying the danger of the virus (or playing with fire).

If there is any form of karmic justice Trump will get it eventually.

I can't really figure out why the water is such a different color here, but this hue of blue is absolutely gorgeous!

It might be that Fauci had good intentions and was trapped in a difficult situation, but even if that is true, his good intentions meant jack shit when he let trump sabotage the response.

He lied about masks becasue Trump didn't want masking to interrupt the economy. At every single and crucial step of the way, he has been there kow towing to the tyrant, covering for him, being an accomplice to Trump by silence and action. The result, at least 140k American deaths and climbing fast.

He can get redemption, but good lord he better come clean, because he has a heckuva lot of people in his list and the admin plan is to keep adding to that list as if life was disposable.
This fiasco is 100% on Trump, not Fauci. Fauci is one of the few people associated with Trump's administration possessing any integrity whatsoever.

Interesting aspect about the US south, and Texas is that population density is not particularly high compared to other regions.

The obvious unwillingness of US citizens to practice basic social distancing and face mask wearing is clearly a direct cause of this spike in cases.

My previous post still rings through - our way of life is over.  Without face masks, the virus spreads even in relatively sparse population density regions.

We'll just always wear masks for the rest of our existence?  Sounds like a bleak and dystopian future.
Unless you're among the privileged the present is dystopian enough (with or without Covid-19).

Also I prefer the Copernicus as it uses a more recent climate norm  1981 to 2010.

GISS is still stuck with 1971 to 2000. Will it ever move on from this 30 year period ?

Of course neither reflects the pre-industrial "normal".
Right, there is a modicum of dishonesty there.

We (the U.S.) have a great propaganda machine that sometimes is not good enough to hide the fact that this country is a complete mess. The streets are not paved with gold. Unfortunately there are enough folks here who do believe how great we tell ourselves we are. We're a joke.

How many people don't have health insurance in the U.S.? Or have insurance that makes it so ridiculously expensive to see a doctor that they avoid making appointments altogether?  Probably far more than is acknowledged. So that in itself would seemingly cause under reporting to some extent. People may not even know they have or had been infected with Covid-19 and thought they just had the flu. I felt terrible about two weeks ago, assumed I had the flu and got better. It may indeed have just been the flu, but I don't know.

Though I did not vote for any of these clowns (mostly Trump and his ilk, but basically all of our politicians), on behalf of the US I apologize for the circus / clown show our leadership is and has been for the past few decades. So embarrassing and terrifying that they are leading everyone to very dark places. We are collectively such a blind and stupid people (not all of us, but apparently most of us). It's not totally different elsewhere, but we seem to take it to the nth degree.
