A little reminder of the value of this thread , all it's contributors and all the 11,767 posts that precede this one
For example the  post below is from Vox mundi last January and is the sort of thing a Conservative minister would not like to hear in any future enquiry .. their remembered timetable re knowledge of asymptomatic spread is quite different ...

I don't think I've ever seen this before .. a clear view of ice on the move , from 30'W to 90'E it's export all the way . Worldview ..

.. click back and forth between the last few days to see just how bad the recent weather pattern has been for the high Arctic . Probably as bad as it can get this time of year .  b.c.

Indeed Espen , all the way to Beaufort there is a significant crack , mostly @ 10km wide and up to 20km in places . It has opened largely in the last 4 days . Worldview has a great view of the whole today ... - click the link ..

Beaufort has it's own ongoing crackopalypse .. b.c.

Arctic sea ice / Re: The 2021 melting season
« on: April 05, 2021, 10:18:43 PM »
The next week's animation should be interesting . The low complex N. of Norway seems destined to slowly move to the central Arctic , while high pressure is maintained over G'land and north Canada . This should increase the crackopalypse already apparent from Fram to beyond the pole as the winds remain strong across the region .
Fram export has been low all winter as Wip's graph on the piomass thread today shows . This is changing fast .. a block of ice I've been following between 84 and 85 north has moved 45 km toward fram in the last 48 hours . In 10 days it and a lot more besides could already be in the Greenland sea on the way to early oblivion .
Freegrass wondered if the event (being followed in the chatter thread) would have much effect . The enormous export of ice is being replaced by open water and thin new ice , while the cold air headed south is being replaced by warmth via Kara and N.E. Canada . Not wot the doctor ordered .. b.c.

Thanks , Uniquorn , great visuals revealing a much changed Arctic . It looks like this year there could be serious threat to the minimum ice volume record , while area and extent records may stand . b.c. .

So we all sing kumbaya now and America's problems are gone because Trump is gone? We just ignore the rise of China and American religious extremism that's eating that nation from the inside?

I find it disgusting that a single moderator can just delete an entire thread without reason or giving notice to the creator...

I'm seriously pissed off that BC deleted this thread... How many more of my contributions will get deleted on this forum because the moderator doesn't like me?

What I really appreciate @ Arnie is how he chose to spend the millions gifted to him by DT. in the millionaires tax bonanza . He saw the campaign for better access to voting in the southern states even as polling stations and drop-boxes were being removed by his fellow republicans . He spent $10 million in states like Georgia (where a dear friend of mine was among the campaigners . Sadly she died before she could witness the result of her efforts . ). It is reckoned his actions increased Democratic voter participation by as many as 30 ,000 votes in Georgia alone . Thank you , Arnie . b.c.

Hi John , I am an ex Green Party spokesman somewhere to the left of Bernie politically , active in caring @ our planet for a lifetime and a long term cannabis campaigner . I volunteered this role (mod) as a balance to blumenkraft . Sadly he is gone so I am dealing with this sector . You had already been flagged in my message box as a troll , but you were not being disruptive in my sector . The antics of some posters that led to the loss of a number of good posters last year has left me intolerant of disruption ..
I find Sailor's post rather hilarious .. I am part of no tribe on this forum or in life . Ask just @ anyone else ! He does say he thinks I am basically right at the same time as calling me a bad moderator . I just don't have time to pussyfoot around these days .

I do not "support" Trump. I voted for him because I do not "support" the most extreme violence in the United States today...the murder of thousands of babies a week by abortion. Yes, due to this website's extreme Left Wing bias and censorship I know you will not post this, b.c. but this comment is for you.

be cause, on at least two counts you have shown yourself to be unqualified to be a moderator.
In the first place, you are unable to moderate in a timely fashion. If Joe Shmoe makes a statement on one of your threads and I reply to it, a couple days might even pass before it is posted. In that time a new page may be started, and people checking up on new posts to the thread may not see my reply. This is not fair to people who are following the thread, it is not fair to me and, in particular, is not fair to Joe Shmoe.
In the second place, you not only allowed but added to libel against me. I do not support violence, in particular America's greatest violence, abortion. This is unacceptable on a public forum from a moderator.
Report To Admin

Tom , you are on moderation . You cannot demand that I slavishly respond to your posts by rapid approval . Your moderation is not meant as a punishment for moderators . It was meant as a means to encourage you to change your ways . Posts that add nothing but inconvenience are being deleted .
With regard to posts referencing abortion ; it is Neven and my fellow mods that feel there is no place for this discussion on this forum . As you have seen they act when I have allowed you a voice .

Actually Catholics are Christian.
bc, suppose that you lived in Weimar Republic and the candidate running against Hitler was a crook who believed AGW was a British Hoax. You would vote for that candidate (I hope) because 6 million Jewish lives were in danger.
Abortion in America has already taken the lives of about ten Shoahs.

Tom , I once asked in a bible study meeting that raised the holocaust .. 'Is not the greatest moment in the life of a Jew the moment they meet their maker ?'  'Of course' came the reply . 'Then why do they not celebrate the fact that Hitler helped 6 million meet their maker earlier than they could otherwise have hoped ?'  Years later my aunt still laughs every time she remembers the moment . b.c.
p.s. .. you could think similarly re abortions .

Oh to be ruled by incompetents .. I'm sure Trump is personally responsible for a couple of thousand deaths  a day in the USA while here in the UK Johnston and his bumbling idiots have added 10's of thousands to the total unnecessarily .
Now it looks like the last few days and hours has allowed many thousands to move within the UK and abroad . I don't think Europe and the world will rejoice at the spreader event of the season !

Forecast rain via NOAA

Nothing over 1/4" (60 mm) predicted in 2 days (Nov 2 & 3, basically) except for small parts of Oregon, Washington (state), Maine and Massachusetts, and probably some snow in Alaska (Nov 1 forecast) in the southern panhandle.

The forum / Re: Forum Decorum

Some years ago i think someone asked on this forum if there was a space for personal diaries, and i think the answer was "No."

Perhaps a "diary" could be in a new grouping (perhaps called "Diaries") where anyone could begin a thread and be, if they wished,  the only one to post to it by timely use of the "Lock Thread" mechanism ... the diarist could unlock the thread to post anew, and lock it after the post hit. Or they could have an unlocked, collective diary for all to relate their days.

If such a scheme were implemented, i suggest that posts on the putative "Diaries" grouping be absent from the "New posts" presentation on the front page.

.. I support this suggestion and only wish blumenkraft were here to implement it .
I would also ask if the entire ' off topic ' section be removed from the 'front page' .. to prevent any further ' accidents' dominating the 'recent posts' .. Neven ???   b.c.
