a change of plan in the UK .. only one shot of the vaccine .. either type , from Monday .. with a wait of up to 12 weeks for the second helping . Goal .. lots more folk partly protected sooner . seems 50k a day testing positive has changed plans , combined with a global shortage of phials .. who would have guessed ..

with over 10,000 having flown from the UK to Switzerland this past w/e alone , it can be assumed the Alps will be a hub of infection for this new strain this winter just as it was first time around . Thank dog we learn from our mistakes ..
re extra viral load , it certainly seems to be accepted hereas fact in the UK .. I have heard it frequently referred to in the past 24 hours but not the original affirmation .

Oh to be ruled by incompetents .. I'm sure Trump is personally responsible for a couple of thousand deaths  a day in the USA while here in the UK Johnston and his bumbling idiots have added 10's of thousands to the total unnecessarily .
Now it looks like the last few days and hours has allowed many thousands to move within the UK and abroad . I don't think Europe and the world will rejoice at the spreader event of the season !
  Happy Christmas ! b.c.

normally by this time of year I have encountered  hundreds of queen wasps looking for or in places to hibernate . This year , not one ! Every month this spring and summer had at least one major storm . These have devastated breeding in local birds from rooks to gold finches . I guess one of them did for the wasps too . b.c.

What does an armed middle America do when told Their President is under threat .. the lying media, the evil judges , the mad scientists , the FBI , the CIA , ad infinitum : all out to get HIM ?

Tom, “Obama announced the seas would stop rising in his administration“
Care to back up your bullshit with a source?

Before you make false accusations, you should do a little careful research.

Otherwise, you end up with egg on your face.  I think you owe Tom an apology.

I wouldn't be surprised if Joe retires after 2 years .. 50 years of service .. and hands the reins to the VP .. I don't know if there is precedent ? If not , this is the era of the unprecedented  and i would love to see it happen .
Can Trump pardon himself as he leaves office or would he need to hand over to Pence and have him do it ? Unprecedented ?

Forecast rain via NOAA

Nothing over 1/4" (60 mm) predicted in 2 days (Nov 2 & 3, basically) except for small parts of Oregon, Washington (state), Maine and Massachusetts, and probably some snow in Alaska (Nov 1 forecast) in the southern panhandle.

The forum / Re: Forum Decorum
« on: October 21, 2020, 09:43:53 PM »
Some years ago i think someone asked on this forum if there was a space for personal diaries, and i think the answer was "No."

Perhaps a "diary" could be in a new grouping (perhaps called "Diaries") where anyone could begin a thread and be, if they wished,  the only one to post to it by timely use of the "Lock Thread" mechanism ... the diarist could unlock the thread to post anew, and lock it after the post hit. Or they could have an unlocked, collective diary for all to relate their days.

If such a scheme were implemented, i suggest that posts on the putative "Diaries" grouping be absent from the "New posts" presentation on the front page.

sidd

.. I support this suggestion and only wish blumenkraft were here to implement it .

I would also ask if the entire ' off topic ' section be removed from the 'front page' .. to prevent any further ' accidents' dominating the 'recent posts' .. Neven ???   b.c.
