Last winter was record breaking ( at least 120 years of observations) in snow volume and water content in northern Finland. I would not be surprised if winter's above Arctic circle would be warmer and more snowy in future.
As for snow. I attach the Rutgers NH snow extent for winter. Despite many previously frozen seas melting out during summer there is really no trend in it. The trendline goes from 45,2 to 45,8 mln sqkm which is basically just noise.

According nsidc daily Sea extent has dropped from maximum record amount 684 000km^2. I mean its record that at date 23.3 or ealier extent has dropped such amount. Thin ice breaks/melts faster.

Outside of mainland chine numbers are 9 recovered vs 2 deaths.

Im from Finland and I was amazed about inaccuracies on snow cover data. We have 1/4 country, about 80 000 km^2 snow free, and in nooa and rutgers it seem all snow here.

Thanks for animation also. It make all the difference when looking these pics. I think I can see some widening on crack when I look at one point in animation. But Im not sure. There is new satelite image from today, but nothing new. Maybe if it its aded to animation. I still cant put images from my computer here. Only from web. Can you help with that?
