Arctic Sea Ice has a very small volume, but in relation big extent/area with this constellation the  minimum for extent will be later this season.

You are quite correct that the freezing season has not begun -- the best available evidence, which seems to be at the links below, shows net melt everywhere out through August 27th. It is better to wait on NSIDC's call than go charging off on divisive new forums out of synch with the scientific community.

I am skeptical that anyone here is running more sophisticated models than ESRL. Most people here are not running any model at all and indeed lack access to the necessary computing resources. It is usually better to defer to those with far greater skill sets -- unless you can specifically document problems with their products and link to your conflicting data.

@ A-Team, thanks for your answer. Im not a native speaker, but your answer sounds quite a little bit dominant or aggressive. I just had a question, if it is possible, that small volume and relatively big extent could end in a late minimum. This is just a feeling  without models, datas or publications. In your answer my question was gone. Dont know why.
Anyway, if questions are not  welcome, i am sorry.

At this time, The Arctic Sea Ice has a very small volume, but in relation big extent/area . Is my feeling right, that with this constellation the  minimum for extent will be more late this season.

thank u archimid for the graph. the rising of the gains during the last years make sense to my "physical feelings" in melt and freeze. OK 2017 doesnt fit until now (warm winter?)

So when we look to future, the gains of winter ice volume could rise further until the "meltout" in summer/autumn 20XX. From this point its unlikely for record gains in winter. Is this a possible szenario?

If we would see an icefree arctic in a few years, what do you think how much volume first year ice could be generate in one winter season? 10000, 15000 ?

Thank you for wipneus links. And you are right. There are still 400 km2 remaining in Hudson/baffin area. But if u look to former years, the last 100 km2 for each region disapearing slowly with some rebounds. So i think, we can only see max. 200 km2 of fast melt. Perhaps it will take longer for baffin, so the effect gets even smaller the next days for these regions.

I think in two or three days the hudson/ baffin effect  will be over. Is there another "delayed melt effect this year or will the melt numbers will slow down a bit?

Sometimes i have problems to get a quick overview over the current weather conditions and temperatures in the arctic.

Volume anomalie isn't so big this year. How large is the influence because of the slow Fram export in your opinion?

Hi Jim,
I don't understand the temperature profile.
The "24" means 24 hours, i think. If this should be right, I wonder why all the 4 lines end in the same value and the start of the days (hour 1) differs in temperatures.
Where is my mistake? (Not the grammatical)
