Thanks for all the warm wishes and good advice!
Terry, are you okay?
Terry? I hope all is well. We would all appreciate a quick hand wave.

Terry's silence is concerning, since his last posts described Covid-like symptoms.

Anyone have a back-channel way to contact him?

I sent a message to Terry's Mensa friend in Alberta, that he spoke of in one of his last posts. I will post the reply when I receive it. John
Still waiting to hear from TerryM's friend . She said that she would try to contact him and get back to me........John

Carole Moran to John. I will let him know so he can post a message. We are self quarantined. He is high risk due to his ongoing health issues, so we are being very careful. He is alive, reasonably alert, & still on the computer. His attention has been sidetracked to the violence happening in the U.S. Thanks for asking.

If I would have the address of Terry (he only gave his email) then I would've sent him something nice because I miss him. Even better would be a phone number so you can at least hear the voice of the other person.
Hi Nanning, here is Terry Moran's contact info (available to public). I tried to phone but no luck.

<please send via PM, John. You say available to the public and i believe this is to the best of your knowledge, but i don't know if Terry is OK with this. - BK>
PM sent to Nanning, Thanks BK

New cases and new deaths in the US have more or less plateaued for several weeks. During this time the relative share contributed by the huge outbreak in the NY/NJ/CT area has been dropping and the share contributed by the rest of the country has been increasing.

Does anyone have a good data source to look at this phenomenon a little more closely? It would require retrospective daily new case and death data, by state, in a compact easily mined format. Suggestions? Or has anyone seen this sort of analysis?
This URL has US cases for the past 7 days when you download the .CVS file (download button on right.) https://www.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/index.html

To what extent to we expect this pulse of 4-5C anomalies across the Eurasian side of the arctic over the next week to impact preconditioning (or pre-preconditioning)?
I'm sure more senior posters will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the higher temperatures will only have an impact on the freezing of the ice. This "heatwave" basically ends the freezing season early.

Is there a mathematical formula that calculates the increase of ice volume with temperature?
How much possible volume do we lose with a 20°C temp anomaly? And how does that compare to fram export?

There is a formula that calculates the increase of thickness with temperature. Found at https://sites.google.com/site/cryospherecomputing/fdd.

Volume should reach its peak any day now if has not already.

<snipped>
122 new death lower then 234 last week but this includes the easter effect.
<snipped>
Getting accurate fatality counts on easter weekend has proven difficult for milenia. ::)
Terry

Terry I appreciated your "joke" but I think it went over the heads of all the scientific people here ;)

What happens in Vegas no longer stays in Vegas. A Toronto man hit it big in Vegas and returned home with Covid-19.

Macau shut down for 2 weeks when the virus struck there. Any chance that Vegas will follow suit??
With 45,000,000 visitors a year it could become the biggest gamble of life time!
