-166K on the NSIDC daily extent numbers. Losses like that going forward will still keep 2019 competitive with 2012.

Pretty impressive that we are seeing ~100K losses still even with a more -DA pattern. Losses should only accelerate for at least the next ten days or so as we transition to a very hostile pattern for ice retention. The losses we saw in early 2012 were pretty impressive, but this upcoming pattern is one that at the very least should keep 2019 competitive with 2012.

Growing confidence for a impressive dipole pattern to take over beginning ~D3, and lasting for at least a week. EPS, GEFS, and their respective deterministic operational runs are extremely poor for ice retention, and we have a legitimate shot at keeping pace with 2012 over at least the next ten days.
