The rest / Media photos of glaciers, ice streams, fjords
« on: April 19, 2017, 10:40:54 PM »
I become annoyed now to the point of exasperation with the media coverage of Arctic melting in general and Greenland glaciers, ice sheets and fjords in particular.

I have seen dozens of photos accompanying popular media stories that indicate neither the location of the photo nor the date/time of its acquisition. Many, many times I also see glacier photographs that are of completely different areas from the subject of the media story.  These unattributed photos are of no use to the curious.  They also do not appear correctly in search results.

Is there some way that the community can shame them into a more professional approach to the presentation of photos in climate change articles?

There is a swirl pattern in the sea ice to the east of Zachariae Isstrøm / Nioghalvfjerdsfjorden / North East Greenland on 2016 October 5 shown below:,MODIS_Aqua_CorrectedReflectance_TrueColor(hidden),MODIS_Terra_CorrectedReflectance_TrueColor,Reference_Labels(hidden),Reference_Features(hidden),Coastlines&t=2016-10-05&z=3&v=234630.99825409323,-1975932.9367040219,1105030.9982540933,-255612.93670402185&r=-90.0000

(East is Top).  My question: is the current flow that is causing this pattern north to south or south to north? (left to right or right to left).  Or is it wind?
