The rest / Russian people deserve better than Putin and Kleptocrat's
« on: June 10, 2018, 08:42:33 PM »
The Russian people deserve much better than Vladimir Putin and his corrupt Oligarchs.

From time-to-time I will update this list and add to it (for instance add in the wealth of Oligarch's as the Mueller investigation continues to unwind Donald Trump's dealings with Russia and its Oligarch's.  This is just a SMALL BEGINNING.  I will also display the number of journalists killed in Russia over the last couple of decades ...  discuss the underdevelopment of the Russian economy, especially based on size ...... etc.  In short, the Russian people DESERVE MUCH BETTER THAN THUG PUTIN AND HIS KLEPTOCRAT's.

1)  CORRUPTION RANKING:  Ranks 135 out of 180 (the higher your number the more corrupt your country).  For comparison, Italy 54, Turkey 80, Britain 8, Canada tied for 8th , Germany 12, China 77, United States 16.  Russia is tied with Mexico at 135.  The most corrupt ranking in western Europe is Bulgaria at 71.

2)  Corruption discussion from Transparency International and Wikipedia
A notable worsening of this ranking for Russia—from 90th place to 126th—occurred at the beginning of Vladimir Putin's second term as president: a drop of 36 places in only one year. An equally pessimistic picture emerges from the estimates of the average size of bribes which has substantially increased over the last five years. For example, according to the Interior Ministry's Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the average bribe amounted to 9,000 Rubles in 2008; 23,000 Rubles in 2009; 61,000 rubles in 2010; and 236,000 rubles in 2011. In other words, the average bribe in 2011 was 26 times greater than the average bribe in 2008, many times the inflation rate for the same period.

3)  GDP:  Russia is ranked 11th in the world in GDP.  They are behind countries like Brazil, Italy, and

4)    Salary and wealth of Vladimir Putin

Salary:  According to official figures, in 2017 Putin earned 18.7 million rubles, or $302,000. His declared properties include an 828-square-feet apartment and a garage. A 16,145-square-feet plot of land listed the previous year was not mentioned, Agence France-Presse reported.

One thing that Trump and Putin apparently have in common, is they don't like to list their assets.  Of course.... Putin try's to UNDERPLAY HIS WEALTH ..... AND TRUMP OVERPLAY's his wealth (and Donnie doesn't admit to most of his wealth actually coming from Russia and Russian's).

Wealth:  Some peg Putin's wealth at $200 billion.  Not bad for someone who only earns hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

Last year, Hermitage Capital Management CEO Bill Browder told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he believes the Russian president is "the richest man in the world" with a net worth of $200 billion. Browder has some bona fides to back up his Russia connections; the financier's firm was once the largest portfolio investor in Russia.

The rest / Mueller Investigation & Cohen Investigation
« on: April 18, 2018, 02:50:01 AM »
This thread is intended to focus on the ongoing Mueller investigation ...... AND ...... the Cohen investigation.  There will be overlap in these two ...... and things are going to continue to heat up in coming days and weeks.

The politics / The Media: Examples of Good AND Bad Journalism
« on: March 06, 2018, 02:53:39 PM »
Since many people like to talk about "the Mainstream Media", and "Conservative Media", and "Fake News", and "other media" (like Jimmy Dore).   This thread is your opportunity to do so.  The focus on this thread is on how the media is covering RussiaGate:  Who is lying....who is blatantly biased (one way or the other)..... and who is doing a good job of covering RussiaGate.  In examples of GOOD JOURNALISM and BAD JOURNALISM.

MSNBC, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, RT, Jimmy Dore, etc.

To quote Neven....."have at it."

The rest / Poll on oil price
« on: February 13, 2018, 11:59:28 AM »
Right now....WTIC (West Texas Intermediate Crude) is about $60 a barrel.  Will it get to $85 before it gets to $35, OR will it get down to $35 before it gets to $85?

Poll to see when people think the last NEW ICE passenger car (not trucks....not hybrids.... "ICE ONLY" passenger cars) be sold by a MAJOR car brand in the United States?

The rest / Economic: 2016 and beyond
« on: May 06, 2016, 01:52:01 PM »
I just wanted to post this for anyone interested in "economics/investments".  The Economic Cycle Research a consulting and economic modeling firm that has been around for a LONG TIME.  It was founded by one of the "original" economic modelers....and it is a site that I "frequent" at least a few times a month.  It does NOT have an "ideological bent" in either direction.....and is mostly concerned with "business cycles" around the world.

Their outlook for 2016...and maybe into 2017 is not particularly "rosy".  Here is a good read from a recent article at their site:

I would also note.....that the 4th year (or in this case the 8th year) of a presidential cycle in the US is NOTORIOUSLY BAD for equities.  I am NOT an equity analyst...and NOT a financial advisor....but I tell my friends to "keep their powder dry" till later in the year this year (likely late September to mid October) before wading back into the equity market.

I mentioned it elsewhere on this site a few weeks ago....but the solar and alternative energy stocks have been "pulling back" for a couple years now....and I suggest that they "MAY BOTTOM" this summer or early fall.  Just something for you to look at....

If the trends in the Arctic ice sheet....and the Greenland melt continue.....investors will be looking at the alternative energy sector with much more interest.

I also have suggested in the past......that I believe a "Marshall type plan" for alternative energy internationally will be LIKELY HAPPEN at some point in the NEAR FUTURE (WITHIN 3 years).  The dots are starting to connect BOTH on a physics level.....and from a psychological (and logical) level internationally.

The rest / Posts that have been censored on other sites...
« on: April 19, 2016, 01:24:48 PM »

I have an idea for what I think is a new topic....and something that might be needed...especially this year.  I think you and someone else had a couple of responses that were "censored" at WUWT.  I had a response to Joe Bastardi censored (not posted) just yesterday at Patriot Post.  I expect more of that to happen this "they" (deniers) try to put all their fingers and toes in the dam that is breaking around them.

When I responded to Bastardi on Patriot Post......I took the liberty of copying my post AND the post above it (before it was ultimately erased/censored).

Might you set up a thread or topic for "censored posts" that do NOT get posted to other sites?  Curious to hear your thoughts on that...

Consequences / Accountability...
« on: June 29, 2014, 04:59:52 PM »
Accountability is something that will be coming up over the next several global warming will continues to show it's effects in various ways:  (1) continuing new record low levels of Arctic ice, (2) continuing loss of Antarctic ice, (3) increase in droughts and wildfires, (4) increasing temperatures worldwide, (5) increased extreme weather events.

The people and organizations that have lied, intentionally mislead, and stalled for the last 20 - 30 years will be held to account.  Much of that accountability will be spearheaded through social many of the political bodies are so infested with deniers......they will cover for each other (whether it is the US Congress, the government of Canada, the government of Australia, or others).

There are ONLY TWO THINGS that we do CONSCIOUSLY each and every day....and we do both of them thousands of times a day:  (1)  Make decisions, and (2) execute on decisions.

When someone lies or leads to bad decisions, and that leads to poor results.  The increased global warming due to the continued burning of fossil fuels is partially a result of those who have lied, mislead, and stalled over the years and decades.  And it is  THEY....who need to be held into account.....openly.....and honestly.

This is just the start of what I am doing to cast some sunlight on those who have lied, mislead, and stalled over the years.

Here is just the start of what will be a list of the worst offenders....and I'll be adding many links over time.
