I noticed that the first photo of the season on the Yukon river breakup site is up: https://yukonriverbreakup.com/

Wonder when it will happen this year, we should make another poll thread like other years

Ice Pool ticket sales ended on the 15th, which is why I put the pic up.
We still have 70cm of very hard snow, it did not quite get above freezing today.
If we do a poll, it should close next Friday, the 22nd, one day before the record earliest.

The river today.
In 2019 and 2016, the river went out on the 23rd.
There is 70cm of snow on the ground today.

Besides the Ob, Siberian rivers don't hurry this year. Nevertheless, worldview clearly shows growing dark areas everywhere. Spring is coming!

The Lena River, Ust-Kut. The long journey to the Arctic begins.

The water has risen about half a metre and the ice above the faster parts of the river is rotting out.
It will probably go out within a week, depending on the weather. Currently 12 degrees, with an expected low of plus one.

The Yenisey in Dudinka. It's quite early but 9 days later than in 2020.
