I started this thread a couple of years ago with some silly graphics uploaded to PhotoBucket.  Since June they've been lost in PhotoBucket Hell; meaning that the very first post anyone would see when they clicked on this thread looked like crap.

I finally got around to recovering the graphics, moving them to Imgur, and editing the post.

Wow.  This situation in the Arctic is unprecedented

Look at this map.  The implications are obvious:

... astounding!

But I think we can all agree that it would be meaningless without this context:

Really, that speaks for itself.

It's a reminder that my original idea for this was a thread where we'd laugh at ourselves a little bit.  Over time it seems to have evolved into a truly massive archive of AGW-related cartoons, art, etc.  Which is a good thing, too.

In the spirit of the original post, here's the appropriate response to Rob Dekker's question about the design of the JAXA Extent Predict-O-Matic (TM):

Ned:

Re: your highly significant orange line.  Obviously the smooth gradation of colour represents the error bars - I get that.  But it is centered around RGB 228, 108, 10.  Surely it should be RGB 255, 101, 17.

That last image shows the well-known dumbino effect.  The B is silent - something to do with insecticides.

Climate scientists seeking opinion of stupid idiot to complete study

OTTAWA – Scientists are nearing completion on another planet-wide study on climate change, but say they require the opinion of a “real stupid idiot” in order to complete their work.

“We’ve spent months conducting research and analyzing the data,” explained Dr. Naomi Prashad. “So we’re nearly there. We just need the assistance of a total brow-furrowing goddamn dolt to point out any shortcomings in our work.”

Perhaps they should ask the "dolt in chief", Donald Trump?
