Operation CROW - CAA Ice and Water Measurement Feb-Mar 2013

I ran across this interesting study about the Canadian military and Vancouver Aquarium taking Arctic sea ice and water measurements during February and March of this year, to determine a host of Arcic ice and water factors.

One interesting note in the blog:

The CAA ice near Gjoa Haven only measured 160 cm thick - which is a thinner layer according to the Vancouver Aquarium poster. The reasons given for the thinness are the winds which sustained wave action later into the early winter, and also snow cover which insulated the ice.

The first paragraph of the Aquarium Blog left me cold when they equated an 85c temperature change to a 120F temperature change.
