I watched the first one and it is quite professionnal...oh there is nothing to avoid it is too late...but what they propose can be done, has to be done...and more...much more.

Very nice animation, very informative..memorize the colors before watching.

I've no idea what the novel is like, but as it's based in Nunavik, I thought some might find this interesting:

Best to just go and read, really. I can't add anything useful.  :)

some art for Arctic Café (produced from CT SIA series)

(Modified 20161103: I no longer have a clue what this was about, I though remember I was searching for fastest melt days or slowest growth days or some such obscure measure and this was an initial graph on that, I don't remember if I finished with it.)

Great new xkcd about ice ages (and the lack thereof):

Alt text:
The good news is that according to the latest IPCC report, if we enact aggressive emissions limits now, we could hold the warming to 2°C. That's only HALF an ice age unit, which is probably no big deal.

The FDA can be quite annoying at times.  Wood is almost certainly a superior surface for aging cheese, compared to impermeable synthetic surfaces.  Put a round of cheese on an impermeable surface that can't "breathe" and you'll surely foster (and fester) bacteria on the bottom of the cheese.  Sheesh.  Didn't they learn anything from the household cutting board research?  Wood is anti-bacterial.  See:
http://faculty.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/faculty/docliver/Research/cuttingboard.htm

We return you now to your usual cheese-free arctic topics, already in progress.

indeed, there is a lot to argue in favor of the Seralini study. When they say there is not enough data to prove something...All the studies that have allowed GMO in Europe were based on the same statistal flow...the main reason is it is very expensive to have enough rats...Seralini admit that there is a problem with these statistics, he is saying that we should invest more in studies...do you see anything coming ???? Seralini did not get the money from the government but from a supermarket chain if I remember well...

Another take on the Seralini study:

Some impressive pictures of life in eastern Greenland.
Quote
“The people of Ittoqqortoormiit truly live a life on the edge. The town is at the edge of the settled area of the thinly populated eastern Greenland. The closest inhabited area is 800km to the south. To the north of Ittoqqortoormiit lies the world’s largest national park. But residents of the isolated Ittoqqortoormiit are also living at the edge of what is humanly possible. Shipments of outside goods are few and far between, and traditional hunting plays a larger role in people’s lives than it does elsewhere in Greenland.”
