Here is the latest summary graphic of how the Australian climate has changed, and they do agree the change is mostly likely permanent.

Australia started experiencing a dramatic increase in wild fires circa the turn of the millennium; just like North America and Siberia. This increase has been sustained and has happened in multiple locations (opposite side of the world to one another). But the locations are at similar latitudes. This dispels the notion that the increase is due to forestry management procedures or human encroachment. Here's a link to NIFC where wildfire stats for the US can be found:  http://www.nifc.gov/fireInfo/fireInfo_main.html
The photo is smoke from an Australian wildfire taken off the southern coast.

City of Perth recorded the highest ever max for April (37C) a few days ago (8th April)

North America is starting to experience the "Australia Effect" as some climate scientists have jokingly called it. Moisture is be transported away fro the center of the continent via malformation of the Jetstream as predicted.

Australian Open players reportedly fainting, vomiting, and hallucinating under 108 degree heat in Melbourne. How terrible.

I think it is time to change your PRIME MINISTER.....:)

Maybe with someone who looks at FACTS and SCIENCE.   I find that FACTS are a good place to start when developing POLICY.  If you ignore FACTS....there is no way you can arrive at good policy.

within the next 2 decades Australia will begin to experience climate refugees from the south and south east.

in 4 decades much of Australia will be uninhabitable.

I thought Australia was already getting some climate refugees, and refusing to let in many others. Does anyone have any recent info on hand on that? (Sorry, no time right now to track it down myself.)

I know that New Zeland did refuse the first refugees...

I am not aware of Kiribati asking for Australia assistance yet...
