I previously showed that Russia's continued attacks on hospitals and other medical facilities in Syria are both shocking and consistent (at about 1 attack every other day) :

https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1974.msg151839.html#msg151839

Just two days ago, another example : The hospital in KafrZita, Northern Hama.

Here is a 'before-and-after' picture :

Here is the location of this hospital and mosque :
http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=35.374094&lon=36.593758&z=19&m=b

This hospital and the adjacent mosque were already bombed (and damaged) last year.
Now, the Russian air force just finished the job, with what was reportedly 4 air strikes on May 2.
So it's not 'collateral damage', but Russia is deliberately targeting hospitals and mosques.

Here a report of 7 hospital attacks in two weeks in February :
https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180216-russia-bombs-seventh-hospital-in-syria-in-2-weeks/

It's gotten so bad, that there is even a wiki page for this Russian bombing campaign:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian%E2%80%93Syrian_hospital_bombing_campaign

Again, you also have to ask the question why jihadists hide in tunnels specifically dug out under hospitals.

To hide, in a place where the rules of war discourage destruction (hospitals, schools).
The Jihadists are taking advantage of these rules.

Their enemies obviously consider the "collateral damage" caused by destroying these places of little or no consequence.

A perfect metaphor for how two sides who are waging war on each other, are actually one side. And the other side is formed by those who do not want war.

Any evidence? (I tend to believe it - it's "good" tactics. But then, many hospitals got destroyed by indiscriminate barrel bombing, with no precise targeting.)

Do you have a reference to that ?

The only evidence of tunnels and hospitals I can find refers to the tunnels in Eastern Ghouta, where rebels build hospitals underground.

Likely they did so since hospitals at the surface are being deliberately targeted by Assad and the Russian Air Force :
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2018/04/24/605264919/sheer-number-of-attacks-on-health-facilities-in-syria-shocks-researcher

[edit] Also, there was no tunnel under the hospital in KafrZita. So why was it destroyed ?

Jihadists have been using hospitals as hideouts before. One example from Raqqa:
https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/50-bodies-of-jihadists-civilians-recovered-from-raqqa-mass-grave-in-syria/story-nhgzWEcUHh5JeeBLeb9E7H.html

On alleged Russian airstrikes on hospitals:
https://journal-neo.org/2015/10/27/russias-bombing-of-syrian-hospitals-the-incredible-expanding-lie/

There is a lot of propaganda in MSM on this topic.

There is a lot of propaganda in MSM on this topic.

It's a poor support for the argument.  The article doesn't dispute any of the particular hospital bombings, it slams the organizations reporting the bombings.
Note a peculiar passage:

"SAMS has played an instrumental role in using its alleged medical work to support terrorist organizations seeking to divide and destroy Syria "

Which seems to suggest that only people injured on one side of a civil war should receive medical treatment.

I don't dispute that foreign powers have acted to destabilize the Syrian regime in shameful ways.
It does seem, however, that shameful actions are being carried out on all sides, by all players.
Iran certainly hangs those it considers criminals, publicly.  I don't see that this is any more civilized than "headchopping."

I wouldn't want my tax dollars going to support any armed action by any of them.

some people here, whenever they get stuck with their arguments, ask for evidence, knowing very well that there is no such thing as unequivocal evidence which is the reason for this discussion in the first place. i call this femail behaviour, asking aggressive question that cannot be answered at the moment and then say "you see"

however what makes it even worse is that those same people do not provide any kind of evidence that is real evidence and not only main stream media and/or governments opinions that are meant to justify their own unjust actions.

i find it very interesting that those guys who always put the finger on UN-Resolutions and international law, repeatedly brake that law using lame excuses. the old story about all those iraqui weapons of mass destruction is still one of the best examples to illustrate my point here.

yes i'm aware that this post will not bear fruit, hence it's not meant to convince anyone of anything, it's meant as a "energetic" counterweight, similar the way an electron weighs agains a proton and nevertheless the proton appears to be much bigger, the electron bears the same amount of energy but being much more stable LOL

Remember the 24 January 2015 attack on Mariupol, which resulted in at least 30 civilian deaths and over 100 injuries ?

OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) to Ukraine at the time reported that the shelling of Mariupol’s residential areas came from separatist-controlled territory.

I always suspected that this atrocity was caused not by the 'separatists', but by the Russian armed forces, just like so many previous attacks on Ukraine soil.

Now it appears that I was correct.
Bellingcat has found that the shelling operation was instructed, directed and supervised by Russian military commanders in active service with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
And they even identified the Russian military personnel responsible for this war crime :

https://www.bellingcat.com/news/uk-and-europe/2018/05/07/russian-officers-and-militants-identified-as-perpetrators-of-the-january-2015-mariupol-artillery-strike/

Bellingcat has identified nine Russian officers, including one general, two colonels, and three lieutenant colonels, involved directly with the military operation.

This investigation was made possible due to access to raw video and audio data that is being submitted by the Ukrainian government to the International Court of Justice as part of an ongoing legal case.

Full report will follow later this week.
This is our planet. This is our time.
Let's not waste either.

Look! More Russians:

"The Associated Press has found evidence that the women were targeted not by jihadists but by the same Russian hacking group that intervened in the American election"

"the Russian hackers — typically nicknamed Fancy Bear or APT28 "

https://www.apnews.com/4d174e45ef5843a0ba82e804f080988f/Russians-posed-as-IS-hackers,-threatened-US-military-wives

except that they might not be russian ... the source is out there for anyone who wants it:

"It is both foolish and baseless to claim, as Crowdstrike does, that X-Agent is used solely by the Russian government when the source code is there for anyone to find and use at will."

The new Armenian PM begins his administration by pledging to "continue Armenia's military alliance with Russia" and will attend the Eurasian Union summit meeting where he'll be able to meet with Putin for the first time.

I note that Russia will gain many tens of billions of dollars/year in oil & gas profits due to increased oil prices associated with Trump pulling out of the Iran Deal.  Maybe Putin should send a thank you note for the gift that Trump just delivered to Russia's doorstep.

Russia has been budgeting for oil at a $40 price tag since 2014. Everything over that could be thought of as windfall profits.

It is not difficult to see that Putin, Trump & Netanyahu are coordinating actions to put pressure on Iran:

Title: "Putin may have given Israeli PM Netanyahu the green light to wipe out Iran in Syria in a massive air war"

http://www.businessinsider.com/putin-given-israeli-pm-netanyahu-the-green-light-to-hit-iran-in-syria-2018-5

Extract: "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Moscow's Victory Day parade on Wednesday. Hours later, a massive air war broke out in which, Israel says, it destroyed dozens of Iranian sites in Syria.

Statements from Netanyahu suggest that Putin may have given the green light before the attack."

As Russian officials continue to demand contact with their citizens, as international law provides for, Britain continues to stonewall.
https://news.sky.com/story/russia-hits-out-at-britain-over-continued-blocking-of-access-to-poisoned-skripals-11366642

A group of British academics are "Pulling apart UK's Skripal poisoning case" - asking many of the same questions that have been posed here.
https://www.rt.com/uk/426385-skripal-poison-academic-syria/

Finally another UK academic published two D-Notices relevant to this case. One three days after the event, and another one week later. I suppose a University of Bath Professor could be a "Putin Puppet", but consider it more likely that he's concerned with democracy and freedom of the press.
https://www.commonspace.scot/articles/12746/spinwatch-publish-confidential-media-d-notices-skripal-case#

The D-Notices were attempting to cover the identities and locations of Christopher Steele, author of the famed "Dossier", and Pablo Miller who works with Steele. Both were at least friends of Sergei, and both worked for Orbis - and all were located close by to Skripal's residence.

Why would the UK government in the person of Secretary Captain John Alexander have considered this information a matter of "National Interest"?

It's mentioned that Yulia is in an MI5 safehouse and that her father is recovering in the hospital, but it's doubtful that this is based on any new information.

Those D-notices lend weight to the view that the UK government is concealing the connection between Skripal,Miller,Steele and Orbis. Looks very much like Skripal was a Steele source. Miller is probably in hiding, Steele may have a more difficult time keeping hidden, since he has to appear in court cases.

Strange that you'd use Greenpeace, whose origin was in Canada, to disparage the country.

In the interests of geo sourced data, did any of that video appear to have been shot in a structure that's only been up and running for a month or two? It takes years to leave that much junk around, and to get that much wear on the painted surfaces.

The actual facility came in under budget and ahead of schedule.

The UK has different standards than the US.  If D-notices are done there, cases such as an attempted assassination by nerve agent may reasonably be included in such requests of the press.  It's reasonable to think the Skripals' lives remain in danger.

no, the US don't just contact their people, they either make them pay at gun point so to say and at times even kill them. I agree, that's not contacting. not that they're the only ones but there are many enough governements that don't do that.

You did not think that the Russians would build this thing new, did you ?

Prirazlomnoye turns out to be a 34 year old decommissioned North Sea rig (the Hutton TLP), mounted on top of a 25 year old rusted chassis. It had to be towed in place in 2011 (even though it was only half finished), since in 2012 the design would no longer pass international and Russian safety regulations.

That is why it was "under budget" and "ahead of schedule".

To make matters worse, this joke of a rig is mounted on a 120,000 ton (close to a million barrels) oil container.

What could possibly go wrong...

My bad guys!
I had thought Greenpeace was going after Gazprom's latest Arctic venture which is Yamal LNG, and which opened in December 2017.
http://nationalpost.com/news/world/with-yamal-russia-wins-big-in-the-arctic-after-u-s-sanctions-fail-to-kill-its-giant-gas-project

The Prirazlomnaya platform is where the footage was shot, probably back in 2012, prior to Prirazlomnaya's being commissioned.
http://barentsobserver.com/en/arctic/greenpeace-occupying-prirazlomnaya-platform-24-08

There was an attempt to board again in 2013 which resulted in their crew being arrested and their ship being impounded.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/greenpeace-activists-seized-russian-authorities-flna4B11216079

The facility began pumping in Dec. of 2013, then was closed for maintenance in the summer of 2017.
https://thebarentsobserver.com/en/industry-and-energy/2017/01/offshore-arctic-platform-prirazlomnaya-close-down-3-months

By August it was reported to be pumping 10,000 tons of oil per day. (70,000 Bbl)
https://thebarentsobserver.com/en/industry-and-energy/2017/08/arctic-platform-prirazlomnaya-opens-new-wells-boosts-production
It's the world's first "stationary, Arctic class ice resistant platform", according to The Barents Observer.

It was the giant 27$Billion Yamal LNG project that I referred to as having come in on time and on budget, even though under US sanctions.

My apologies to Rob for having jumped the gun. I'd actually been following Greenpeace's exploits back in 2012/13.

Very little mention of the Skripals within the last 24 hours.

The Russian embassy has issued a press release about the question of consular access to Yulia and Sergei in which they offer the exact wording of the Consular Convention of 1965, Article 36

“a consular officer shall be entitled within the consular district to communicate with, interview and advise a national of the sending State and may render him every assistance

They point out that Sergei as well as Yulia are Russian Citizens, even though Sergei also has an UK passport. He was never stripped of his citizenship, and has never renounced it.

Whether either wishes to avail themselves of their right to consular assistance is moot, as the rights of the consular officer are also involved.

Article 36 in accordance with the UN International Law Commission insists that
"the consular officer shall have the right to visit and to communicate with him without delay”,
even in instances where he is detained in any way including quarantine or detention in a mental facility.

Their argument seems strong. If the Skripals don't wish their help, all they need to do is to tell them so in person. Otherwise Russia must assume that the Skripals are have been forcibly isolated, or that their condition is different from the one described in official statements.

Personally I fear that the Skripals may have shared the fate of Jimmy Hoffa.

For those that cried "conspiracy theory" when D-Notices were first addressed:

http://powerbase.info/index.php/DSMA_notice_7_March_2018

and

http://powerbase.info/index.php/DSMA_notice_14_March_2018

may assuage your concerns.

Even the 2 D-Notices that have appeared can't account for the total news blackout surrounding this episode. Why no reports of the boys at the station house honoring their heroic Sargeant. No waitresses or bartenders telling of their final meal, or the brand of vodka they were sipping?

We remember that the local paper published the story of them being overcome by a suspected Fentanyl overdose with comments from the hospital to "attend routine appointments unless contacted". This has never been retracted. The symptoms of opioid overdose and nerve agent poisoning aren't likely to be confused, yet this was the story that was published the following day.

http://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/16064949._Major_incident__at_Salisbury_hospital_after_Russian_spy_found_unconscious_at_Maltings/?ref=nuo

Someone needs to stay on this because for some reason the British government is keeping this out of the news as well as the US covered up the Manhattan Project. I didn't think it was possible in this age of instant communications and smart phone video, and I'd like to find out why it's being done.

"I'd like to find out why it's being done."

An unkind person might suggest that is because UK intelligence were neck deep in construction of the Steele dossier and would rather avoid any more embarassing questions. I suspect the Skripal's will remain disappeared forawhile, and perhaps if they are lucky, reemerge with lucrative book deals ...

Lucrative book deals would be wonderful. My recollection is the Yulia had just come into a chunk of money that might be worth a fortune in Rubles. I suppose that, and her car, her other pet and everything else is just waiting for her to return.

I fear it started with the dossier, but now has mushroomed until it would cause the end of more than one prominent politician's career in the UK if either of them can't be persuaded to tell the correct story.

Unlike the Manhattan Project, this story had a very prominent beginning. I doubt that they will be able to suppress the middle and the end forever.

Police Sergeants, first responders, even the kid that delivered his paper want their 15 minutes of fame & my bet is that in the not too distant future some of them will get it. You and I may not care what brand of purse Yulia was carrying, but fashion columnists do want to tell the world.

Ooo look, Russians:

"“This was the work of a sophisticated team, and it fits entirely into a pattern of behaviour demonstrated by Russia in the past.” "

"My view is that Wikileaks is a tool of the Kremlin"

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/777971/Vault-7-Julian-Assange-Russia-CIA-wikileaks-hacking

"Speculation that Russia may be involved in the leak stems from the narrative that WikiLeaks may have some form of backing from the Kremlin,"

http://www.newsweek.com/who-cia-vault-7-wikileaks-dump-russia-insider-contractor-565296

But, alas: mebbe not: One of CIA's own

"U.S. government has identified a suspect in the leak last year of a large portion of the CIA’s computer hacking arsenal"

Apparently he covered his tracks well enuf that they hadda nail him on dubious child porn charges:

"despite months of investigation, prosecutors have been unable to bring charges against the man, "

"he has argued that anywhere from 50 to 100 people had access to that server"

Since I'm russian when I drink vodka I may speak about the americans. It's nice to compare such russian discussions with what I read in this thread ;D Do the western people really think that Russia has a climate weapon?
I like to study the world history and I'm impressed that the western nations  have got the dramatic history and of course the russians have also. But now I'm convinced we are all live in a world of prosperity, peace and friendship

Only the ones who think the world is flat.
People really in the know here already understand that it's the US that has such a weapon:

German SPIEGEL ONLINE reports:
http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/nervengift-nowitschok-bnd-beschaffte-probe-in-den-neunzigerjahren-a-1208117.html

Quote
Secret operation in the 1990s
BND procured sample of neurotoxin Nowitschok

Investigations after  the nerve agent attack on the double agent Skripal reveal a explosive secret operation: Already more than 20 years ago, the German foreign intelligence service (BND) procured a Nowitschok sample.

[...]
Apparently, the western findings about Nowitschok go back to the sample of the poison procured by the Germans in the nineties. So Chancellor Kohl is said to have decided after an initial analysis of the warfare agent in a Swedish laboratory to share the knowledge of the highly dangerous weapon at least with the closest allies.

At least since that time, according to the articles in the late 1990s, not only Germany, but also the United States, Britain, France, the Netherlands and Canada had the composition and a sample of the new warfare agent. They may have even produced it in small quantities and experimented with protective measures for their own troops in the event of a confrontation with Russia.

[...]

No sane person would care.

Some folks on this forum do care. See above. And it was in Britain, not America.

You take and make things too personal, Lurker. This is not a stupid high school debate club or a polit rally or Trump vs. Hillary. Here we are more interested in things and facts, not in who looks better. Some care more about reality outside the brains, less about the ego inside.

Therefore I will henceforth ignore you.

probably true, just every one of them should ask themselves why ;)

i'm glad to be insane then because i do care, especially i care to know what the truth is
because the current time spirit of lies, well disguised behind a multitude of terms like:

- political correctness
- diplomacy
- democracy (yes it's an abused term since long)
- etc.

will (already does) bring disaster upon us which is why we SHOULD care about the truth, no matter the case because the case is just a place-holder for an endless number of examples as to what's going on.

I previously reported that Russia is deliberately targeting hospitals in Syria with air strikes, here :

https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1974.msg152955.html#msg152955

and here :

https://forum.arctic-sea-ice.net/index.php/topic,1974.msg151839.html#msg151839

Now I came across another report along those lines, one that I previously missed :

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/03/24/un-fire-giving-russia-coordinates-syrian-hospitals-high-risk/

Quote
The [UN] organisation gave the GPS locations supplied by NGOs operating in Idlib and Eastern Ghouta to Russia and the US as part of a new “notification system”.

One of the hospitals whose details were shared with the UN on March 12 - in the Arbin neighbourhood of besieged Ghouta - was targeted in a direct strike on March 20.

Needless to say, these are blatant violations of international law, and war crimes, committed by the Russian Air Force.

You might think: Much ado about nothing; or you might think: Putin missed his chance to silence a possible informant in the Russia investigation:

Title: "Ex-spy Sergei Skripal discharged from hospital"

https://www.axios.com/ex-spy-sergei-skripal-discharged-from-hospital-1526636236-f73b92c8-be6e-474c-be5d-d9fc87bf4e9c.html?utm_source=sidebar

Extract: "Ex-spy Sergei Skripal, who was poisoned with a nerve agent in Salisbury, England in March, was discharged from the hospital on Friday.

The backdrop: The U.K. has blamed Russia for the attempted murders of Skripal and his daughter, Yulia Skripal, and the incident has led several governments around the world to expel Russian diplomats from their countries. Meanwhile, Sky News reported Thursday that Skripal is still being questioned by police about the attack and his level of contact with British intelligence."

I reported on the Russian attacks on Syrian hospitals several times before here.

Now the UN weighs in :

The Syrian regime and its Russian allies have attacked hospitals 92 times since January, a record high less than six months into 2018, the UN announced yesterday.

https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20180518-syria-regime-attacked-hospitals-92-times-since-beginning-of-2018/#.Wv_0dHbo4A0.twitter

“Civilian areas – specifically healthcare facilities – are being hit in north-western Syria,” Doctors Without Borders (MSF) mission head Omar Ahmed Abenza said earlier this year. “The strikes, despite their regularity during the seven years long conflict, are currently at an intensity that should be a landmark, another wake-up call.”

Assad and his Russian friends are using attacks on hospitals as an instrument of war.

they attacked ISIS hiding in and below hospitals, holding the facility and it's inhabitants hostage.

when the U.S. did the same in iraq where saddam held civilians hostage in strategic places there was very little uproar from people who now point wir their finger at others.

the biggest difference between putin and the rest of the worlds leaders except the chinese is, that he more or less freely admits what he's heading at (not 100% of course) while the westerners mostly are soaked in hypocrisy and deny all such goals or camouflage it behind humanitarian goals or behind "bringing democracy to the reminder.

Methinks: Mission accomplished, i.e. to scare potential Russian traitors.

No need to kill Skripal - as he has told everything already. Putins's message: We can do the weirdest bad to you (traitors) wherever you live.
