I still hold a reservation, but not my breath for the Sion to be delivered.
I hadn't really had a look at the Sonos Sion but I had a dig around today. It would appear to me that Sonos is really a design company. Rather than a traditional manufacturing company as such. Granted a whole load of different EV's are manufactured by third parties in Austria. However the Sion is supposed to be being manufactured in Sweden by another company.
At the same time the two cars classified as prototypes appear to be built on top of two i3 bases with custom bodies. Well according to Reddit.
This would mean that the proposed V2V power and OTG power would not be possible until Sonos produced the software/hardware to provide the feature.
The Sion is now scheduled for fall 21 manufacture start and spring 22 first deliveries.
I must admit I'm wondering if it will ever happen. It has the feel of top end phones which couldn't last a day being provided with reverse charging capabilities. An interesting feature but with very limited application.
I would love to see the vehicle go into production so we can see just how useful the solar cells are. Unfortunately I suspect that feature will go the way of the plug in battery trailer I found on the Internet. It was to be a product but the market outgrew it. Just as Tesla battery swaps never really happened in volume.
At least a vehicle of this type would have driven down the price of the competition.
