I read in the news that in recent times in Chile, events similar to France and the United States. As you know, there was a riot of yellow vests in France because of high gas prices. In the USA it was even more unusual - the denier of global warming - billionaire Trump came to power.

As for Chile, they write that the reason for the riots in expensive electricity is due to the green policy of the government. How true is that?

<snip, no links to websites that are so idiotic that they still deny the existence of AGW, most climate risk deniers have started to move beyond that idiocy in the past 5 years, and confine themselves to denying climate change has potential risks; N.>

Faced with a choice between suffering certain lower living standards today or dealing with speculative climate change in the distant future, people wisely choose the latter.

First it is not wise because of the precautionary principle.
Second the writer is a nasty denier to call climate change "speculative".

From earlier in the text above:

Unlike speculative climate change woes that never seem to materialize

This text is dripping with denier-bullshit.
www.threepochtimes.com is not a good source of information it seems.
"It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else, that prevents us from living freely and nobly" - Bertrand Russell
"It is preoccupation with what other people from your groups think of you, that prevents you from living freely and nobly" - Nanning
Why do you keep accumulating stuff?

I agree with you. But, in the text there is an interesting point about the UN climate conference, which poor countries refuse to accept (refused Poland, Brazil and Chile, agreed to accept only in Germany). Does this suggest that there is a growing rejection of the importance of climate change? This may mean that people do not want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

It would be nice not to have to read denier texts in this forum.
To the point, carbon taxes should be coupled with a dividend or some other form of distribution/relief to the population, especially to the poor, or otherwise they risk running into serious opposition. But it doesn't make them wrong, unless in the eyes of a denier.

That is easy to solve.

3 tones of CO2 per person free at $180 carbon tax means everyone gets a $540 cheque from the government per year.

This will completely cancel out the negative impacts on poor people.

The price of public transportation, like the one of many things you can't live without (water, gasoline, electricity, bread...) is a political choice. It has nothing to do with real costs, or if it does, this is also a political choice.

For most countries of the world - it is a lot. In Chile, a riot began after the price of subway fare was raised by only 1/25 part of a dollar (4 CENTS USA). As a result, most metro stations in Santiago were destroyed. Then the riots spread to the streets of the cities.

What sparked the unrest may sound trivial, but it speaks to the core of the anger. After the analysis of a panel of experts, the government announced in early October that the price of a subway ride was going to increase by 30 pesos (4 cents). The fare rise triggered the protest of high school students, who began jumping subway turnstiles. By October 18, there were massive fare dodges that were treated by the government as crimes, not protests.

That day, after the subway stations closed in the middle of the afternoon, the riots started. In the evening, when the demonstrations had spread across the city, someone shared in social media a photo of President Sebastián Piñera dining in a restaurant in an expensive neighborhood. The fury increased.

Protesters burned subway stations and looted supermarkets. The government declared a constitutional state of emergency and gave control of the security to the Army. Since then, tens of thousands of citizens have gathered every day to rally against the government.

How did a small increase of the subway fare spark the biggest crisis since the return of democracy in 1990?
