Growing up, we canned or dried mushrooms. Boletus would have been canned. I suppose we gathered 50 lbs. on a few good days, but there were seven of us hunting (usually in New Mexico, Colorado or New York mountains).
One cool experience was mushroom hunting in Poland (with local relatives): lots of varieties I'd never seen before... Dinner that night had every dish focus on a different mushroom variety: soup, salad, main courses and dessert.
