What are other forums you know, especially those similar to asif on their scientific focus?
After a thousand steps on the ice, it cracked.
The Man looked down at the infinite blue of the sea.
On the horizon, standing still, the polar bear had just scented his next meal.

Less than 3000 cubic kilometers this Piomas minimum.

I'm not biting this one, sorry, a dangerous topic, full of holes to fall into, good luck.

Just wanted to say this first instead of sounding smartassy after  ;)

Fair enough, but why?

I'm a member of Hypography
http://www.scienceforums.com/
Not as active as I was. One member posted that he was an Evangelistic christian... another member turned out to be an Evangelistic atheist, and chased him all over the forum for a couple of years until he finally gave up. Whatever the poor guy said - nothing to do with religion - his antagonist would pop up with "stop trying to spread your religious propaganda on a scientific website!". And the mods let him get away with it.
Step by step, moment by moment
We live through another day.

Because someone will post a site, then someone else will post saying that site is actually biased or not good or whatever, and it'll turn into bickering.

No definitely, but high probability IMO.

candlepowerforums, good place for info on flashlights/batteries. Haven't used it in ages but there used to be a number of posters who did a lot of really well done & rigorous testing / documentation. (scientific method)

hydrogenaudio is quite good (audio-related) but I'm mostly there for audio codec & vinyl-related stuff.

This topic, could end up in discussion pro and con other forums, which, depending on personal opinions and preferences COULD trigger discussions like they currently happen in the decorum thread, especially in case that various users would tend to defend their preferred forums that others find less good.

A little example would be that even though I am not using facebook but it's messenger because some who I esteem do. Now as it happens they send me facebook links to articles and videos of which perhaps  1 out of 20 I see worthy to share, with the result that some will immediately jump on the anti-facebook bandwagon and say that facebook is not a viable source. In fact in such cases, facebook is only a platform while the source can be youtube or any other kind of source but if the link is a facebook link they discard it with "comments"

Also and since I'm active in dozens of fora, mostly in the tech-world, almost any mention of another piece of similar software, OS, ROM or whathaveyou will end up in a dispute by some, free after the "motto" what they chose is best and everything else is mediocre.

How many Mercedes Benz drivers did we ever hear stating that BMWs are best?

Let me put it this way:

- I could be wrong

- If I'm wrong I will be happy because that would be a great thing.

So this is meant to make people aware of something and that in-itself sometimes helps to
avoid things happening, kind of a self-contradicting prophecy.

Let's see how it goes, I'll keep track and will gladly come back to admit once I see that I was wrong.

 :) :) :)

Wetterzentrale had a Forum of sorts, but it's in German.

I think I've been on that candlepowerforums once!

I should add that Reddit has some good science(y) subreddits.

Science of doom is a rich source on many basic aspects of climate science.
All articles are based on science.

Not an active forum anymore, but many old threads have really valuable discussions on fundamental science issues.

It's not an alarmist forum, more in the 'realist' domain. No AGW denialists are allowed, as the forum is rather heavily moderated.
